  1. i still think Davis will be on the right rather than in the middle for us, and I wonder if any of these Villa fans would change their mind in light of that...

Really hope he isnt used there. Would be such a waste

Think its pretty obvious thats where he will be playing. Thommo and Mendes will be in the middle unless we move to 4-3-3 which will have Davis more inside but still on the right of the 3.

Cant see Smith being that radical. (tu)

  2. I really hope we go for the jugular with these chunts up here instead of our usual wishy washy away shite.

Set up with Davis-Mendes-Thomson-Aaron across the middle with any 2 from 4 up top and rattle them from the off.

    :bouncy: :bouncy:

Having said that, we could always play Dailly, McCulloch and Adam in an attempt to win 0-0 :angry2:

  3. Hopefully now the tims will accept we have got the better player. Some of the comments from the Villa board on the BBC

Tough choice really Davis used to be my favourite player so I would say him. But Maloney was good on his day.

Davis without a shadow of a doubt for me...better range of passing, more tenacious, better on the ball, more pace, little bit stronger...

Maloney is excellent at free kicks, but cannot beat his man, has poor distribution, shirks tackles and generally couldnt hack it in the premier league...

Davis. I still don't know why we got rid of him. He will be a legend at Rangers. You should have had him in before so that he could have kept you in Europe.

Davis is a great team player, Maloney is a good individual.

I would have Davis in my team any day where as Maloney frustrated the hell out of me, every time he cut inside from the left he would shoot when there were players in great positions and he would do it wether he was on the touchline, halfway or 18 yard box. He would be a much better player if he looked for his team mates rather than individual glory!

Two completely different players so difficult to compare but if I had choose one it would be Davis

Do you have a link mate ?

  4. I read his interview there, but in the back of my mind i could really hear him saying

"Smith is a short sighted manager who wont take the risk of bringing someone new into the team as he would rather try "to not lose" than try "to win". He prefers to play his pals fae the bowling club before the likes of myself, Flecky, Furman or Gowser"

  5. My fist post on Murray............Deep breath and go................................

Listening to Murray in the Chick Young interview just brought back to me why ive always liked the guy. As a professional cynic, i always look for the alterior motive, but Murray, for me, just sounded like a man who has passion and drive and a man who wanted to tell as it was to the fans.

I 100% believe him on what he said about Cuellar. The main gripe about Cuellar centres around this meeting on the Friday where Murray and Smith said that no player was for sale and that they did not want, nor need to sell anyone, no matter the price. Now some will say they should have been honest and told us about the clause but that would have been simply a "Come and get him" message. As for the actual clause, i defy anyone in that situation who would have thought that a 10 million clause on a 3 million player was going to turn out a disaster. The suggestion that we should have renegotiated is a valid one, however whilst it may have increased the players contract and salary, there is no guarantee, in light of Carlos's recent change of heart, that the player or his agent would have agreed to remove the 10 million euros clause which may have then only served to speed up his departure from the club.

Moving onto his speech about people on the internet. well we have read allsorts recently and in the past. ENIC loans, £3 million rent paid directly to Murray for Murray Park, syphoning money for catering and telephone costs. None of these ever and i mean ever get backed up with fact. After some digging on them, there is even evidence to suggest its completely the opposite of what people suggest. He intimated that he is surprised nobody has taken any action against people for spreading what amounts to in some cases malicious lies and im glad he took the opportunity to speak about it. To anyone who believes he is taking shit out to the detriment of Rangers, i would like to ask for some back up on it.

He was big enough to say he has made loads of mistakes chasing the glory and ultimately it resulted in him taking money from MIM and ploughing it into Rangers. Subsequent sale of MIM or wherever the money started means he was the one who lost out. It is my opinion he is not getting anything or getting very little back out of Rangers. Its his hobby and its the equivalent of pissing his money up a wall. Ive yet to read or hear anything that convinces me otherwise. He did what any of us would have done, given his extreme wealth, he chucked it in the pot chasing the ultimate dream. Easy to forget how close he came to that in 1993 and to a lesser degree in May this year.

As for the stadium plans, well a few things on that. In my opinion this was one he didnt want out in the public domain. It could be said it was a ploy to attract interest but hearsay at best. From the very beginning, every piece that came from Rangers said there were many options available and it was being looked at as part of a bigger initiative with the Council. Every Gers fan to a man that i know agreed that the likelyhood was a redevelopment of the area around the ground and possibly some extra seating. If it wasnt for the Celtic fans all getting in a tiz about it, i dont think such a fuss would have been made about this 3rd option and even less a fuss when legal problems held it up. He did make a mistake of saying a date ("HOPEFULLY AS EARLY AS MAY") and there should have been a small anouncement made to confirm the current position for the people who didnt read the "hopefully" part.

The one thing i take issue with him on is having Walter Smith in charge of the team. I understand why he done it and i even understand why he continues to support him, but i fear that Smiths deficiencies are puting added pressure on Murray. Had we used our available squad and won the league, then bought Bougherra, Davis and Mendes instead of Lafferty, Velick and Miller, subsequently securing our place in the CL, the sale of Cuellar, if it still happened would not have brought about the same reaction as we have seen in the last couple of weeks. These are all ifs and buts of course and a lot of variables but im sure many of you agree that the SPL was ours had Smith utilised players who could have done the job in the SPL and that having failed to secure the league we would have beat Kaunas if we had brought the right players in prior to any deadlines.

I would say there is a big swing of Rangers fans heading towards being dissenters of Murray rather than Supporters. The last wee while hasnt been fantastic but i think Murray himself has created a rod for his own back. The success under his leadership in his first 10 years has given us all a taste of the good, sorry make that heavenly, life and that makes it harder to take when we are NOT AS DOMINANT like the last 10 years. In isolation, the last 10 years has not actually been as bad as some would have you believe and in fact, we have won more trophies than Celtic in the last 10 years all be it the most important one is 6-4 in their favour.

Finally we should all remember that in David Murrays 20 year tenure (birthday - 23rd November 2008), there has simply NOT been a greater 20 year spell no matter where you look in the history of our club. During his time, we have won 13 titles, 18 Cups, reached a European Final and came within 1 goal of playing in the Champions League Final. In comparison our rivals have managed only 7 titles and 10 Cups in the same period.

So there is my stance(previously posted on another site) and im 100% sure Sir David will only let the reigns go if the people coming in can prove they are fit to run the best club in the world.

Although im a supporter, im open to learning about factual stuff(with evidence) to disprove my views on Murray. Im fed up with the paranoid pish that eminates from all things Green who say something shitty then run away without backing it up, so on that basis, I expect better from fellow bears and I look forward to a healthy debate if anyone is up for it. (tu)

  6. First things first, i hate the fact we signed Tango Man. For me it was the last straw as far as Smith was concerned and along with the signings of Lafferty and Velicka, it cost us our place in the CL. Not that im judging the other 2 so early, simply that we added to a strikeforce when everybody could see we needed to strengthen elsewhere first.

Part of my anger of bringing him in was simply me accepting i was going to go another season watching the same old pishy tactics of 4-5-1 and Misser was gonna be the 1 to run about like a dik and hope he creates a chance for midfielders running in. So thats where i was up until King Carlos left and i started to see who Smith was now looking at.

He has broken his mould and went for creative players in Mendes, Aaron and Davis. Chuck in Thomson and all of a sudden you have 4 clever players who will play balls into hurting areas ahead of the forwards. On that basis, i am thinking that Misser might actually be the one to feed off that.

I think back to Fergie, Gio and Tugay during Advocaats reign and they would play balls in behind all day long for Rodney Wallash and Michael Molsh who were quick players who could get in behind. I dont think either of them were clinical finishers pre or post Rangers, but i think the passing and their speed meant they had so many chances, they ran up a feast of goals.

He has a month to prove himself in my book (tu)

  7. Guys i think this is an ok idea but have a few criticisms. I think it might force you in situations to go the other way and put a mark against Rangers just for the sake of trying to be impartial. For example. The penalty claim on Saturday was never a penalty in a month of Sundays. There has to be intent and the power the ball was struck with made it impossible for it to be intentional. On the other hand and i dont know if anyone agrees with me but i felt the Lithuanian was very unlucky with both cards. Had it been any other Hearts player or Gers player(see Broadfoot for example) they wouldnt have got booked. Its a worthwhile experiment but it really has to be a number of people agreeing that it was a match changing decision and that it was 90% incorrect. The 2 Celtic decisions are undisputabley wrong.

  8. Its a difficult one for us as we could find ourselves selling a player and still paying him off as well ala Davis with Fulham.

The right noises have been made about players being available but the money is just not in football for teams to take the players that we want rid of. You are really looking at other SPL teams for most of them. Getting them off the wage bill is priority and some may go for piddly sums if anything at all.

  9. I have a feeling Edu is going to be playing CH. He has played CH and RB for USA and we know what Watty is like. Davis wil play on the right with Mendes and Thommo in the middle. That will leave us with the option of DMB or possibly Aaron out on the left.

Fergie could be December before he is back, just as you start hitting suspension and possible injury territory....

  10. :unionflag: This guy, I think, is one of the most talented strikers we have along-side lafferty, velicka and mabye boyd. This talk about him leaving is probably true but I would like to see the SHITE players go first like adam, JCD, hemdani and mcculloch.

I think if we hold on to him until january and try and improve his attitude he would be a good player in the squad. Last season at games such as lyon awayand gretna away,he impressed me with his natural ability on the ball. I am curious to find out all your opinions on the guy.

But if he doesn't improve his attitude and quit his fecking moaning then he can GTF a.s.a.p !

    WATP! :unionflag: :rangers:

WE gave him his chance to improve his attitude towards the end of last year and what does he do. Sticks the nut on 2 guys. A Leopard never changes its spots so I would get rid for any reasonable bid, though to be fair i would drive any the players you mentioned personally if we were getting a wee bit of cash in and cutting the wages.

  11. Howdi everyone. Got a recommendation for this site so thought I would join up and check it out. Thought about just going straight in and posting but felt it better to stick a wee introduction on my Gers perspective then everybody knows what to expect.
