  1. The finish for that second goal yesterday was fantastic. Just knows where the goal is and the keep then angles the shot perfectly!
  2. I think we have to be looking at a back 3 more and more. Every game, including yesterday, since parkhead we've been exposed at full back as teams have got space or got in behind in those areas. Tav and especially Borna (as we seen yesterday) are quite reluctant to engage or push out to the oppositions full back or wide men and often get doubled up on. If we play with a 3 those two will be able to engage with high full backs and allow the wide CHs to cover the wide players. Sands would be perfect as the extra man, as mentioned before he can step into midfield and it would mean Lundstram would be able to dictate things and not have to think about filling in at CH. It also means Tav and Borna have free reign to go forward, not that they didn't yesterday though.
  3. Decent team and should work against Hearts' back 3 and wing backs. Double up down the wings, get to the byline and get balls across for Colak, Arfield and hopefully Kent and Matondo. 2-0 Rangers
  4. For all the talk of not being able to break down teams etc. This is the biggest issue. We'll probably need to beat celtic twice this year. Despite two fairly decent performances against them at the end of last season we're yet to beat them in the league under Gio. That becomes a mental thing rather than a football thing.
  5. We don't struggle against the rest away from home compared to celtic in terms of results. There's also been a few games away from home under Gio where we have been outdone by horrific goalkeeping, finishing and referreing.
  6. Okay practically! Centre half for centre half, left back for left back, 6 for a 6 and an 8 starting off on the right for an 8 starting off on the right. Same shape, same movements.
  7. The team I've posted team there is literally the same team apart from Barisic for Bassey, Davies for Helander, Lundstram for Jack and Arfield for Ramsey that battered Dundee at Dens in the first half in the SC. You're losing Bassey's athleticism on the left but it's the same shape and movements. We were 2-0 up at half time could easily have scored 4 or 5+ in the first 30/35 minutes. If it's too defensive for Tyncastle then it would have been way too defensive for Dundee in March.
  8. Now you're talking. Lure Hearts in by passing it around our own third then punt it over the top to Kent. Might keep a clean sheet too
  9. It's all about moving pieces for me, something we aren't doing enough just now. Sands sits in with Goldson and Davies/King or whoever which allows Tav and Barisic to get as forward as possible. Tav can either create width and if he's playing high he can certainly get in the box which we've seen it plenty of in the last 18 months. Barisic and Kent, in theory, should be effective doubling up against Hearts' wing back. Allow Lundstram to pull the strings and I've mentioned that Kamara in the right circumstances can be decent in the final third. He's scored 3 goals since March two have been breaking beyond a striker and the nice finish on the edge of the box against Leipzig when we Aribo up top going deep or wide up top (slightly more like Alfie than say Colak). Absolutely not saying he is the answer in that position long term but certainly someone who has shown he can offer something as an 8 when called upon. Also can add a wee bit of control at a place like Tynecastle.
  10. I don't think King or McCann deserve to be dropped really. McCann got into some really good positions just lacked the composure. That in itself is really positive!
  11. Be easier if we just had at least one guy who could actually play out right with a left foot. Wright and Sakala just get in the way of Tav.
  12. McGregor Tav Goldson Davies Barisic Sands Lundstram Arfield Kamara Kent Morelos This will sound utterly mental but I wouldn't be against seeing something like this just out of pure flexibility. Sands can fill two of three roles in there including dropping deep and allowing Tav and Borna to get much further forward. It also means at times we cant be stretched wide defensively which is becoming more and more of an issue every game we play. It's one thing celtic or Ajax being able to do it but Dundee Utd doing it is another problem altogether and one that needs addressed. Kamara can also be pretty flexible in there. He can drop in at 6 to allow us to build play and drop in on the left to allow Barisic and Kent to play. He has shown at times under Gio he is willing to push beyond the lines and the final line of attack which is pretty useful when you have Morelos up top dropping deep and creating space for others. All three players mentioned can help in the press. We played something quite similar with Sands and Kamara in midfield and Alfie up top in the Scottish Cup against Dundee (a poor side admittedly) and it was as good as I've seen us in a first half under Gio but havent seen it since.
  13. Good luck to him. Guy gave up the best years of his career for us when he could gave done other things with his career/play at a higher level - a true Ranger!
  14. In terms of 4-4-2 we certainly played a variation of it a couple of years ago with Roofe, Morelos or Defoe with usually one sitting, typically Jack, and a combination of Kent/Hagi/Aribo/Arfield in a three in front of him. We played our best football under Gerrard like that. However with that comes movement. Alfie dropping deep, Roofe coming in and out, Kent and Aribo coming inside, Hagi linking things or Arfield going past Morelos along with Tav and Borna bombing forward. A formation as it lines up is what it is but its more important where players go in that formation. That starts off as a 4-4-2/4-1-3-2 but ends up as any combination of formations in game.
  15. It's mental if that's there thought process. Even with 3/4 injury prone players holding down good wages there is no reason why we need any transition period after winning the league unbeaten 18 months ago. If transition was ever spoken about, which it might not, then it defo sounds like a Ross Wilson "give me time" plea.
  16. Why do the board think we need a transition period? celtic's transition period took two transfer windows? Wilson has how many and we're stuck with easily 10-15 players compared to when he first joined. Not having a go at you btw, just the thought that the board might see this as transition!!
  17. Aye they were replacing guys who have left and cashing in on their top players to fund it. Pretty sure compared to when their manager came in they have about 5/6 players left over from the previous management. You need to spend money to have decent players. We could have done the same but have pretty much made an arse of our recruitment (especially on retaining players).
  18. See before you start swearing and putting things in capitals to make a point go and read what I was replying to originally. The poster who I was replying to said "any half decent coach to get us to the end of the season and take it from there" A poster is literally suggesting that!
  19. So sack a manager and a backroom team to bring in another manager and another backroom team for 7/8 months to then just sign another manager and backroom team in the summer? It really went well the last time we did that with Murty twice.
  20. I agree that we have a good bit to improve especially the performances but here we are playing pish and only two points behind the gallowgate galacticos. If we find half of that 50% we'll be dangerous. As for away from home celtic have dropped more points away from home than we have since Gio joined. I'll concede celtic have played two more away games but in Gio's 13 away league games and celtic's last 13 away they've dropped 1 more point than us. It isn't that abysmal unless celtic's is as well.
  21. Since Gio joined in November we've dropped one less point than postecoglu has away from home. Gio has dropped 8 and postecoglu 9.
  22. If it's just to get us to the end of the season then we not just best keeping Gio?
  23. Aye 75-74 to postecoglu. If things go like this then it will be the results against them which will be our downfall. Sometimes it really isnt pretty under Gio but he does, in comparison to celtic, get results. Hopefully a wee run up until New Year and momentum with us can change the dynamic against them head to head!
