Murty and the loaf had honourable results against the mhockits as has SG, if that is the benchmark people better start realising one swallow a summer does not make.
The only cure is two fold, lots of money £25  million minimum and SG’s ability to spend it wisely.
Time is a luxury neither we the club nor SG has to topple the taigs, the supply of money on a major scale would show two things from the board, confidence in the manager and the desire to halt the mhanks in their tracks.
Anything less from the boardroom is unacceptable.

No, he needs money and lots of it, top teams buy success and very very rarely develop it.
We are and always will be a top team.
If he gets the bankroll I am hopeful that his name can attract better players, also the guarantee of european football.
No one can or will succeed without backing, the fans are doing their bit, down to others yo do theirs and support manager, team and fans.

We make off advertising and season ticket sales Gerrad provoked an interest that was waning after the carry on with McInnes and Murty debacle.

That game against the scum should have been the lauchpad to push on instead we have regressed.and that tells us that this squad does not have the ability or the bottle to go on a winning run Enabling us to put pressure on the scum.

i always enjoy reading this factual gambit in the David Holmes revolution after 9 years without a title..
"An unsung hero from the Rangers past who never kicked a ball for the club.

For anyone unaware of David Holmes, This was the guy that awoke the sleeping giant that was Rangers football club and made us once again the biggest show in town after years of mis-management that saw the unacceptable position of the club finishing mid-table in the league.

His master stroke was in bringing in Graeme Souness as player manager.

    The revolution had begun".

I know its not a manager / manager comparison but in a way maybe a form of benchmark the manager and players (and for that matter Directors) ought to have as front and centre in their minds is we have not won a top trophy since season 2010/11.
A key benchmark for the Club.....and the Support....is the regularity with which trophies are displayed.   On that benchmark basis the entirety of Rangers from Chairman, to Directors, to Execs to Manager and coaching staff to first team squad all have a lot to do to win a trophy and bring it back to Ibrox.   Maybe a modern day benchmark for the Club should be the frequency with which a top trophy is won.    Its a team effort and so far in recent times (since 2010/11) performance right across has been way below acceptable.

From "I Don't Know What It Is But I Love It' - Liverpool's unforgettable 1983-84 season"
That was the message Fagan and Ronnie Moran passed down and it was channelled through Souness who told them 'We don't lose, we win!' We went to some tough places but we just had that mentality to win.
We again need someone who exudes that arrogance and belief.

From what I briefly saw in the press this morning my take on it was he was clear in saying we can forget closing the gap because if we couldn't win in front of 50000 at Ibrox against StJ then there was the evidence.     I can't recall any past Rangers manager effectively conceding the title before its mathematically impossible for us to win it but that does seem to me to be what SG has done.    He does tend to speak his mind and is not one of those who tries to hold on to hope by relying on the 'until mathematically impossible' type of statement.
But assuming he means it, it begs the question about what expectation he will set for the team for the remaining league games.    Will he try for 2nd place and give yet more space to his failing players to try to recover some semblance of pride in the league performance?   Or does he now start to ditch those who just do not match up to what he believes they are capable of delivering and introduce development players to see if they will respond and make the jump into first team football for next season?
If - as it seems - he has conceded the league title then there is there also the Support's expectation for the rest of the season...…...will supporters increasingly pick and choose the games to go to at Ibrox and same for away games?    It can cost a lot of money for many Supporters so if the Manager has shut the door on the league title ambition then is playing for 2nd or for a European slot now to be the expectation SG sets?    Will be interesting to see what SG says next about his approach to the remaining league games.
On a wider point about setting expectations there is the very big landmark year coming up in 2022.    If we have not won a league title before then I think it could be miles beyond the capability of any manager and any set of players that Rangers could afford to win the league title in that season.     If, as it seems, we can't get the players to handle the pressure of generating winning consistency in this current season when the other lot have slipped up so often but yet we slip up even more then finding a manager and players that could handle the pressure of having to win in 2022 could be a near impossible order.    But the Support will have that expectation.  Its self determining.

I keep saying it and I will continue to keep saying it, people who don't understand the effect and role of great captains should read this book.

The last mild mannered Rangers Captain I can remember was Eric Caldow, there again in those days we had eleven Captains on the pitch, SG was a great player, sadly his man management skills are questionable as are GM'S .
People say we are progressing, I think we are running to stand still when in the beginning with SG there was so much hope, for those who say time is needed and claim they care not about 10 i-a-r for the mhanks....lots of us do care about stopping their path to 10 i-a-r...time is not a luxury we have.
Major investment very major investment is required, and soon.

We had a captain’s thread a while back, didn’t get received with any great enthusiasm, point still holds good though.
