That suggests the gap to him is nearly half a new team. I'd call needing half a team a big gap, others may not. But if you think about it, bringing in half a team knowing that the chances you get them to come in, gel, and hit the ground running early are slim, then we are not in a great place. 
Winning a semi final doesn't really mean anything either in the context of a gap. It shows we can beat them in a one off game. We did that last year and it's done nothing for us this year. St Mirren beat them this season. They aren't closer to them than we are.

They have a better squad than us currently. They get goals from all over the park. Their goalie has been in far better form than ours. They have a better killer instinct than us. 
Realistically we are probably 4 or 5 goalscoring signings off them tbqh. Doesn't mean we can't push them next season or even beat them in cup comps but I think over a league season they have our number just now. Hopefully in the summer that changes

When you look at the outlay for both players, what they've brought to the club, and that they are both leaving on a free, Kent should be deemed a failure.
For circa £7m the return should have been much greater in terms of goals and assists. Including wages it must be in the region of £10m wasted on him. The term flatters to deceive could have been invented for Kent.
Morelos over the course has been a huge success considering we bought him for around £1m and his goals have taken us to the brink of winning the Europa League, he's more than earned his crust. The mistake was with the club not selling him when his stock was high and we could have reinvested in the squad. I just think that his time with us has sadly come to a natural end and i really hope the wee man pushes on.
