  1. Modern day footballers have one thing in common, to accrue as much money as possible in the short careers they have, with this being the case if the board accept the Chinese clubs offer Morelos will be gone quicker than Usain Bolt, anyone who thinks differently are just kidding themselves on, the days of club stalwarts have been consigned to the history books. Don't know what price is on Morelos head but it appears the club are not repeating the farcical transfers of L.McLeod & B.McKay, at last we seem to have a bit of a backbone which means other teams aren't going to take our playing assets for a pittance. Murty's prematch press conferences are so soothing, concise & informative without satisfying the sports writers lust for info/ knowledge.
  2. We owe him the settlement on the remainder of his contract. It's easy to throw glib comments about, it's not so easy to dismiss a legal document which a contract is, we need to look at who authorised the length of contract Niko was given when he signed, as he should never have been given a contract this long.
  3. He doesn't fit into a system is my point, if he was given a free role not tied down to fitting into a structured system, that is when Windass excels, He for that reason will never reach the top in the game, natural ability wise the guy is very gifted and when on song is a joy to watch, my experience of this was watching him in league 2 down south, so although he is obviously better than a league two player I think Championship level would be his ceiling.
  4. You have missed the point I was making, he is only effective having the freedom to roam in advanced area's, he will not be afforded that opportunity in Murty's structure where he seems to play too wide.
  5. I shared Pedros opinion on Halliday, bang goes any credibility I had ???
  6. I hate being negative about players, but for me I just don't see any positive in Halliday remaining at the club, he was deemed to be surplus to requirements by Pedro, with the influx of signings in this window, potentially better quality players than Halliday I think the guy needs to find a new club, at the age of 26 he needs to be playing regularly and I cannot see that happening with us.
  7. Windass is an enigma, I seen a fair bit of him at Stanley, he seems more effective in an unstructured role, he looked a real prospect just patrolling the front line at Accrington and has lost his effectiveness due to having to be more disciplined within the structure Murty has implemented.
  8. Don't think you have quite mastered the role of the loan market smile.?
  9. It is pretty obvious he is finished, it is also sad witnessing a player who has had such a successful career cling onto it in the hope he has one last hurrah left. I would have more respect for him if he were to quietly announce his retirement from the game than pine for his past glories.
  10. That needs mutual consent. With his contract paid in full ?
  11. The article is by definition factual, the grey area is the undercurrent message throughout the entire article. My own viewpoint of the situation is DW has been offered an opportunity to improve his family's lifestyle and in the process be rewarded financially in excess of his current earnings. The many on here who are questioning DW's ambitions are entitled to their opinions, I would however ask them if in their professional life they were given the opportunity to move to a more amenable climate and earn 3 to 4 times their salary would they refuse to move. Added to this is Danny's wife is an American citizen and may wish to return home, no one on here knows whether the club were going to offer Danny a new contract at the end of his current deal. I thank Danny for his service over his two spells at the club and wish him well in his future.
  12. I probably am not making my views clear here, I shall try again doing it this way, there is no point in fans saying Morelos is worth ££££ Windass is worth ££££ McCrorie is worth ££££ at the end of the day our valuations mean bugger all to them in the blazers. McLeod to Brentford I can't recall the exact figure £500-£750K was the reported figure. McKay to Notts Forest £500K the reported fee. I think the bulk of our fans would be of the opinion both these players left for under their market values, that is another reason for my reluctance to attach a value to any of our players.
  13. Wrong. I agree he deserves a new extended and improved contract. Your second point about imaginary values is the whole point of what's happening with figures being banded about by other posters. To quote you from a previous post you said I was not giving a value for Morelos insinuating I couldn't as I was using the how long is a piece of string synonym, my reasons for being reluctant to give a value are (a) it's irrelevant at the moment as we have no wish to sell him. (b) any transfer fee offered will be dependent on which clubs are interested ( hence I used the laughable Real Madrid scenario to highlight this) (c) there are many different considerations involved in determining how much a selling club can actually attain from buyers ( the most important being how long is left on a players contract) (d) the value is also affected by how important a buying club view the signature of any transfer targets. the above hopefully clear up my thoughts on Morelos
  14. Ok you seem to have an agenda against me, provide proof of where I said offering Morelos an improved and longer contract wasn't a good idea ? Correct I did refuse to put a figure on his market value, this was due to a possible transfer for Morelos only being conjecture at the moment. I have since gave values which I think clubs from different spectrums of the football world would be able to afford, these figures bear no relevance on a player's value however as I'm a realist that recognises Real Madrid wouldn't even consider a player plying their trade in Scotland.
  15. And I am sure there is massive differences in how much a club like Real Madrid can pay in comparison to a club like Fulham ( or any other championship club down south ) so you wanted figures Real Madrid £20-£30 million Fulham £8-12 million now the likelihood of Real Madrid being interested in Morelos is super slim that's why I put his value as how much potential buyers were willing to pay, so I have given you figures how much clubs at different spectrums may cough up, what relativity they have to the guys potential in the transfer market is questionable. As I stated in a previous post a players transfer value is determined by many aspects, age, experience, level of football they have played at, whether they have attained full national recognition but the ultimate factor in a players value is how much someone is prepared to pay.
