Boab Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I am not saying he's pish or not as good as folk make him out to be or whatever, dont get me wrong, but he has been in pretty quiet in recent games IMO, today he had only the 1 run of great note and also the same against Celtic and Aberdeen away aswell he was only seen for a short time. I'd just like to see him be given more to roam than just be out wide so to give him more room to dribble and use his passing skills he obviously has.
simplythebest Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I think he needs to sit a couple of games on the bench now, he'll still have a part to play but his last two games could have gone better and he probably shouldn't be rushed.
martyb1873 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 fuck sake mate give the boy a chance, hes only played 5 or 6 games in the first team. im sure he will come good

Right_To_Censor Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 its hard to live up to the tag "next wayne rooney" fuck rooney, fleck is just a kid still learning top flight action and just like aaron, it will take time.
ricksen_da_best Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 If hes good enough to play him. If hes not performing at his best, dont play him. We here it all the time, no exceptions for fleck. Give wee aaron a run of games now.
ShanksRFC Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Fuck sake Boab, who do you want to play then? Hide n seek?
Boab Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Fuck sake Boab, who do you want to play then? Hide n seek? C'mon, he can be that bad!
Edin-Bear-ugh Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Yeah, I would like to see the opposite of today. Give Aaron a run, and then bring on Fleck. Theres no rush for either, and both should be given the chance. How about one on either wing?
FlippinEck Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I just thought he was too far up the park today, he was sitting on the edge a lot of the times when he could have benefited from being nearer to the attacking fullback, thats what I thought, still, he is a dangerous lad and he has showed that. He has some cross on him too

Ibroxblue Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Fleck has found it difficult to get into recent games. Walter now has to have a good think about whether to persist with him or give him a wee break.
ManchestGer Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Fleck shouldn't even be on the wing it's not his position. I hope Smith doesnt try and turn him into a winger in the long term.
chris_glasgow Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 we are putting far far too much pressure on the lad
numansnewman Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Fleck shouldn't even be on the wing it's not his position. I hope Smith doesnt try and turn him into a winger in the long term. dont worry about that,he will soon be behind papac, helping out shagger
Briton Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 He hasn't set the world alight but the great thing is that he's still as good as anyone else has been on the left and we've done pretty well as a team as well since he came in. That takes the pressure off.
ZeGowse Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I dont think it was the fact that he played badly today i just thought he was paying far to central. I thought the midfield was very narrow today with only papac and braodfoot offering any width. I think fleck is alot better when he i huggin the touchline and takin on players. I really get frustrated at how narrow our midfield is!
lidorfc Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 tbh i would rather see aaron out wide left and fleck in a more central role.
LegendofCoop Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 He outshone everyone in the reserves, but that doesn't really mean he'll be an instant hit in the first team. He's still learning his trade & will improve in time....so long as he's given it. If he needs to be dropped, then Smith has to make sure he doesn't dent the lad's confidence in doing so. Best way of doing that right now would be to let Aaron have a wee run of games....someone that's had just a little bit more first team experience than Fleck has at the mo. Still, having said all that, I reckon he'd be far more potent coming on for Miller when he tires!
BritishBear Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 tbh i would rather see aaron out wide left and fleck in a more central role. Aaron on the left, Fleck behind the Striker in their natural positions. The only reason Fleck is in ahead of Aaron is because he can tackle a bit better, don't forget this is the manager who wanted/bought Whittaker to play in front of Hutton (wanted Faubert a converted RB). Last week the lad wasn't allowed to support Lafferty, even in a 5 man midfield ffs. For a man who had Laudrup in his team, his distrust of flair players is baffling.
docspiderman Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 The only player who seemed prepared to pass the ball to him today was Papac.I lost count of the number of times Fleck was in space and Ferguson ignored him him, turned round the other way and passed it to the right or back. What appears obvious to me and anyone who has seen him play in reserves or under 19's is that he is as much a wide player as Davis is although he can beat men and get to the line.
dyzeus Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 tbh i would rather see aaron out wide left and fleck in a more central role. Something like............. :davis: _______ :mendes: ________ :aaron: :fleck: :miller: ___ :boyd: Imagine these 6 playing at their absolute best all at the same time.

Something like............. :davis: _______ :mendes: ________ :aaron: :fleck: :miller: ___ :boyd: Imagine these 6 playing at their absolute best all at the same time. I dont think that would work at all IMO. Not enough balance. Davis would come infield and be far to central and Aaron would most likely hug the line therfore leaving us very lopsided...although not to different to what we are at the moment to be fair.
