numansnewman Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 certain aspects should be adopted into football. 1.injuries/substitutions..the ref tells the timekeeper to stop the clock on these occassions..this takes away any debate with respect to injury time.. 2. i would like only the captain to be able to talk to the ref. 3.the issue of a 10yrd penalty for dissent never seems to apply,i dont know if its still a rule, because i havent seen it implemented for years...it should be. any views ?
rangersross Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I don't think football should seek to learn anything from a sport which has proved far less profitable, popular and (in my opinion) far less interesting sport. Stopping the clock is logical, but the marginally impact wouldn't be worth the problems in implimenting it. Footballers are always passionate, especially if they're in danger of getting fined for a red card, this captain rule would just be flouted consistently and the idea of a player getting a booking for 'persistent chit-chat' is rediculous.
numansnewman Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 does the 10yrd penalty rule still apply ?
mac444 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 does the 10yrd penalty rule still apply ? In Rugby or Football? It still does in Rugby, they trialed it in Football, but don't think it ever really worked/refs didn't implement it correctly.

In Europe only really. The likes of Austrailia/New Zealand etc Rugby is far more popular than Football, it doesn't make as much money as Football does in Europe though, this is partly due to the popularity of other sports in these countries competing against it, where as in Europe Football doesn't have to many competitors for the most popular sport.
numansnewman Posted February 22, 2009 Author Posted February 22, 2009 but surely stopping the clock is a good thing...we always have around 3mins injury time, this would stop timewasting subs and players lying down trying to waste time. cant see anything negative about implementing this
