Play the best available team. Its common sense

McCulloch, Dailly, and a 4-5-1 formation. What do they all have in common? They have been used sparingly this season. Thats because they dont work. Yet, regular as clockwork, a big game comes and another questionable tactical perfomance.

The team had not been playing to badly recently, Aarron and Fleck added a bit of flare down the left hand side, Lafferty had put in a good few perfomances upfront,so why change things?

Its a basic Walter Smith masterstroke. Last season,in big games,he would being Hemdani in,despite him not playing in any other games. Also recently he had been leaving Adam out the team, but the call him back against Celtic. Dailly and McCulloch both struggle to get appearances all season, yet he brings them back. If these players arent good enough to play against the bottom SPL teams, why does Walter play them in big games?

The reason for this is simple; Walter Smith is scared. A man described as a manager whom not to get in the wrong side of,a man whos team talks scare players shitless,is scared of big games.

In his fear, he abandons the whole concept of attacking flowing football, in favour of packing a midfield in a "it doesnt matter if we dont score, lets just not let them score and hope for the best" approach. For a team like Rangers, this is nothing short of an embarrassment!! Celtic are NOT a good team, and we could have easily won that game today, but Walter was scared to go for it.

To start with,a 4-5-1 was not needed.

Also, bringing Lee McCulloch in to "Bulk" up the midfield wasnt needed. He is a bad footballer.

However, what really showed me how much of a coward Smith is is when he brought on Christian Dailly. It was an open game,we were playing well and could have scored had we kept the pressure on. But Smith is scared to attack so brought on a has-been defensive midfielder. I use the term "has-been" lightly.

We cant be scared to attack, We cant be scared of playing flowing football, and most importantly, WE CANT BE SCARED OF CELTIC. Treat them for what the really are and thats an average team. Im sick of walters terrible decisions in important games. It has cost us dearly over the last 2 years.

We deserve a better standard of football.

a team like rangers should be putting out a team that makes their opponents change THEIR game to counter our strengths

unfortunately smith read the manual backwards

Precisely. There used to be a time when teams were scared to play us, including Celtic. We didn't change our game cause we were scared of getting beat, the players attacked from start to finish and the pressure didnt phase them. Now,its like the players are shitting themselves from the start.
