STEVEN WHITTAKER believes Rangers can use the forthcoming international break to regroup then turn the screw in their bid to win the SPL title.

After taking a 2-0 lead against Hearts, the Edinburgh side sneaked an unlikely draw in the second half of today's league match as they scored with their only shots on goal.

Steven Whittaker, RangersAlthough the final 2-2 scoreline at Ibrox means Gers have closed the gap at the top of the table to two points, it wasn't the result manager Walter Smith was looking for.

Whittaker feels some time away from Murray Park can be used by the squad to reflect on their mistakes then formulate a plan to claim the championship in the weeks ahead.

He said: "We started the game so well and we looked like we were going to coast to quite a comfortable victory.

"But Hearts changed their formation at half-time, went for it a little bit and we let two goals slip. To only come out with a point is disappointing.

"This is a setback but we need to focus. We've got a little break now so we will use it regroup then try to produce a strong finish to the season.

"We still believe we can win the league. We don't throw a lot of points away at home and although we have done lately, we have time on our side.

"We will concentrate on what games we have left and when we get back into action, we'll look to gain as many points as we can."

I'd rather none of our players or management answered any questions until after the next game.
