Boab 73
As much as I'm tempted to say Italy winning the World Cup in my lifetime in 2006 (and consequently ruining the computer by celebrating by downloading porn on limewire post match :anguish) and also my favourite ever goal possibly in Bergkamp vs Argentina, also that Argentina 20+ pass goal in 2006 - and believe me I'm very tempted on all 3... I'm gonnae say the wonderful run by South Korea in the 2002 World Cup under Guss Hiddink playing under arguably one of the best Football formations in a 3-4-3 playing great attacking football and the scenes that the Koreans made also was like an absolute sea of red. What would be your top WC memory? Tho tell more than 1 if you wish!
plymouthranger 3,653
Maxi Rodgriquez's chest and volley in ET against Mexico in 2006. Literally the best game of football i have ever watched as a neutral. And what an amazingly well taken goal considering the pressure
StevenDavis 112
My favourite world cup was 2002 as it was the first I had ever witnessed properly (I was only 6 when 1998 world cup so I only watched a few games). My most memorable memory was when Saudi Arabia got beat 8-0 or 9-0 off Germany.
TexasGers 96
USA-Mexico in the 2002 Second Round match, I can still remember the whole city of Dallas divided into pro-US & pro-Mexico parts. The USMNT got alot of attention in the mainstream sports media, which was great to see. Zidane's performance against Brazil in 2006 was absolutely majestic, one of the greatest ever. Andy 69
What I remember from that run Korea had. the player that put Italy out had his Contract with the Italian Club he was playing for Terminated the next day . In the 2002 FIFA World Cup, his extra-time header dumped the three-time champions from the competition. The next day, Perugia owner Luciano Gaucci cancelled his contract and was quoted as saying, "I have no intention of paying a salary to someone who has ruined Italian football." slimjim1690 4,534
3 memories from the best WC finals ever, Mexico 1970. 1. West Germany's 3-2 win against England after being down 2-0 every player on the park gave all that they had, what a wonderful game. 2. Italy beating West Gemany 4-3 the twists and turns in that game had everybody on the edge of their seats. 3. Jairziniho,[think that was his name?] scoring in the final, making a new record of having scored at least 1 goal in every round. There was so many great games and moments in that tournament I could go on all night........Gordon Banks save against Pele for instance.

the goal machine 7,589
Ronaldo's World Cup Final redemption in 2002 when he scored two against Germany. Fantastic player and he deserved to be in the spotlight for the positive reasons after 1998.

BLUENIZ 0
Have very vague memories of Mexico '86 being on the tv screen, but my earliest memory of the world cup was Cameroon beating the holders Argentina in the opening game in Italia '90, what an upset! Although not considered a classic tournament, its probably my favourite. Bergkamps goal also my all time memorable world cup goal.
Allzo 90
Watching the 2002 World Cup final in a pub in Ibiza (I would've been eight or nine then) and seeing Ronaldo score a double for Brazil against Germany!

Jimbo. 952
Seem to remember Platt's goal v Belgium for some reason. Also remember the 2-1 Sweden game. My old boy had a tenner on scotland 2-0, he said he didnt like the look of the long-haired swedish sub. Totally sticks in my mind. I can picture my old living-room. Really vivid memories of Nessun Dorma, Toto Schillachi, Roger Milla, the 3rd/4th place play off. The Rab C Nesbitt special. How shite the final was. The theme-tune whenever the programme started. In general, just Italia'90 for me.

brissyger 8
Since Scotland has been out of the competition for so long I'd have to say my favourite World Cup was 2006. Australia were in their first World Cup in my lifetime and the buzz over here was amazing. For once a majority of people were actually interested in real football. The win against Japan was good and getting through to the second round was amazing. The penalty against Italy was disappointing, there was some contact and it was Niell's fault for going to ground in the box but I still feel that Grosso milked it for all he was worth, diving bastard. Typical of Italians though. Other reasons I loved this World Cup. Germany and Argentina played some extraordinarily attractive football in the group stages and the game in the quarters was unreal. I actually thought Argentina were going to win the whole thing the way they played in the group but it wasn't to be. Also Zidane's performance against Brazil is possibly the best performance by a single player I have ever seen.
brissyger 8
One of my earliest football memories is Roberto Baggio's miss in World Cup 94. That's probably mine as well. Baggio was about the only Italian player I've liked too.

It was awesome seeing on TV thousands of crazy Aussies celebrating in those city centers at 5AM or whatever.
