pcbear 10,913
The deadwood! The ones we want shot of usually end up sitting out there contract, we pay them to go or leave for a nominal sum(usually after paying bundles for them). The only transfers out that go smoothly usually involve the players none of us want to leave. Not only this season or last but it seems to happen year on year, policy error somewhere along the way. Muff 245
I'm not going to beat about the bush here, but the majority of them are shite! They are either not wanted by bigger clubs, and the smaller ones can't afford them. We sign/give them contract extensions...on ridiculous terms. Plus, Martin Bain is our Chief Executive. AMMS 27
Well would you want to leave?

melvinho87 1
if we stop giving all the pish long contracts it wouldnt happen they get to comfortable with their wage and so there is no need for them to move on in their view.

flecky1 4
coz we have arseholes like bain giving out lavish and long contracts, the players play at the best stadium in the world, in front of the best fans in the world and train at the best training facility in the world who the fuck would want to leave? these ungreatful tubes dont know how lucky they are! Bain must go ASAP, he is a bigger problem than Walters negative tactics and Barrys negative influence!
super hans 55
We tie them to big contracts on massive wages, and all they do is get paid £10k + a week for the privilege of sitting in the stand every week watching the game from a box office seat. Can't blame them, i'd do the same, the blame lies with the people who hand out these lavish contracts.
davy1shoe 63
Niot as bad as having big booboo stuck on massive wages and then there was the Gravson pay off. Least we got rid of a crap manger for nowt too.

J_RFC87 704
They're on the Ibrox gravy train, no one wants to leave freely. Thankfully the Bobo Balde (and Graveson to an extent) situation happened at the darkside, we should learn some lessons from that.
deviltrout 1
i think it comes not down to the quality of our fringe players but the quality of the rest of the spl. just thinking as i type but most table topping teams usually sell their fringe players to teams in the same league, i can think of many examples of teams like madrid, manu and inter selling their deadwood to lower teams in the same league, these teams usually win their league by a few points, so they are better but they have tough games and competitive leagues. spl is not competative at all, but we are not alone dutch league until very recently and port n cheese league are pretty much processions, prob a few more leagues are too, i wonder if ajax (not last couple of years) and porto have similar problems to us? im guessing they would, anyone more informed agree/disagree? Thermopylae 15,286
If our players are only successful in Scotland then teams in most other leagues will probably not be interested in them ... just another reason why last seasons European fiasco was bad for the club
longjohn 0
It is true, that the buying clubs prefer to go abroad and buy the finished article, instead of looking closer to home. In the EPL, I read somewhere, only 30% of the players are English. Dont know SPL figures, but imagine something similar at the top sides.

papaguy51 912
I was going to start a separate thread on this. We're struggling to get Adam away for £500k (Champions League experience, a number of games under his belt) while Celtic got rid of Scott Cuthbert for £300k. I wonder what goes on at times. Maybe if the fans bigged him up more, people would fall for it

lancedeangers1 287
The main error is bringing them to the club in the first place, but the biggest problem we have is the totally incompetent marketing know how at the club. I feel I have to use our scum rivals as a comparison on this point - 'For example'- only this week have we been reading quotes made by Lawwell and Mowbray regarding Boruc of all people. They were bigging him up and saying he's the best keeper in europe... Now heres a total wanker of a human and sportsman who has caused umpteen episodes of controversy, provocative behaviour, embarrassment etc etc and had an absolutely shocking season for club and country making no less than 5 major blunders and yet he is still 'Marketed' by his club as the best keeper in europe?? Thats the difference for me and it shows up glaring inadacquacies in that department at Ibrox. Its bullshit we know but its business and its clever. He's an asset and they want to maximize his value. If you were a shopkeeper or business man you naturally promote your product in the best possible way and convince prospective buyers of the quality of your product ? Instead we repeatedly announce that we are skint and are having a fire sale with all offers welcome!! Everyone of those so called 'deadwood' has a value and the majority would do a decent job at most other british clubs outside the EPL. We need experienced sales and marketing people to design the right profiles for each player and to market their assets/attributes efficiently and effectively. nvager 498
Adam may yet leave. Is another club not interested in him? He does however want to make it at Rangers. It appears Ferguson may go to Birmingham as early as tomorrow, but again lets wait and see. Webster may sign a years loan at DU tomorrow too. Therefore somethings are happening. Patience my friends and the other big news is Boogie may very well be staying at Ibrox. So lets all relax for a bit.
