Could us and the bheggers run our own tv channel?

Now I'm no financial wizzkid here, but I'd say between us and the bheggers we must have at least 8 million supporters worldwide. Surely we could create some sort of tv channel for us to show live games, highlights and run programmes for the fans as a joint venture between the two. Let the other clubs run their own spl tv channel. I mean we could make a packet and in return for the other clubs allowing us to run the channel, we could give them all a decent financial sweatner to help them out.

Or do I talk even more shite than normal?

non-starter.

The OF and Aberdeen were the only clubs not wanting to renew with setanta for obvious reasons the other clubs saw the £££££'s so for your idea to work we would need to offer these clubs MORE than what they would get from a pooled Tv deal.

now because of their greed every club is now fucked as the new deal from BSKYB and ESPN is only around half of what setanta were banding about ( not that they would ahve paid the sums due) .

Its the Old Firm that make league attractive. How many of Setanta's subscriptions were the Old Firms? If we could take those subscriptions for our own channel then we'd make a tidy sum from it.

I had the Setanta package and to be honest, Rangers TV was like watching amateur hour at Butlins Holiday camp.

It would fail miserably.

Sorry.

Wouldn't have to be the same set-up. We would be the main channel rather than an extra.

The people running it wouldn't change though - and that's why it would fail miserably.

Sorry, but that's how I see it. :(

If it was our own channel why would we have the same people running it? It would have nothing to do with Setanta.

i actually like to watch (or used to)gers tv for the young gers teams to see how ther getting on whether they are good enough for 1st team or not plus if we were to do our own channel of our own accord then surely it would benefit our status in world football.I definatly do not agree to do it with scum cause alto we are old firm we are completly different clubs, what do you think?

I think its a decent shout and we could look into it but we will end up under the SPL umbrella for buttons a year.

I am totally against sharing anything with the Scum never mind a tv channel.

One snag is ther SPL own our tv rights, not us......

Aye, but I don't think people are understanding what I'm saying here. Setanta had an estimated 1.2 million subscribers, I'd go as far to say as Old Firm fans made up at the most half of those. Now us and the bheggers strike a deal with all the SPL clubs saying we are setting up our own joint tv channel, i.e. Old firm tv. We will give the other spl clubs between 10 and 20% of profits, thus allowing the other clubs to make money. Let them set up their own tv channel, or look elsewhere for a small tv deal that the other ten could make a small bit of cash from....

We then show either clubs games on a saturday or sunday at 3 o,clock live. Show reserve games live, under 21s live, have shows about the both clubs daily, stuff like old firm classics. I mean, if you sell 600,000 people a package at say ten quid a month, thats an estimated 72m quid a year. Theres then the running costs of the channel and the percentage to the other clubs. Around 15m notes to be shared between them, plus the small deal they have themselves, and they make a decent bit of cash. We could also sell games individually to allow other clubs fans to watch their team against the old firm, the bigger the game the more value obviously....

Why would they agree to that though..... <cr>

I mean who knows what sort of money you could make if you sell the old firm match as a one off at say a tenner a whip to the entire uk.

Real madrid recently signed a record breaking tv deal worth 1.2 billion, aye thats right billion! Euros, and thats just for spanish rights. It's a market that would benefit us and the other clubs financially.

If arsenal have 27m fans world wide, surely us and the bheggers have at least 8m worldwide between us, there is a market there.

Mate it's a great plan for us, but not for the rest of scottish football hence the reason it won't happen

It allows us to make money and potentially the other spl clubs to make a bit more money than they would with this espn/sky deal, so it benefits all.
