Nemesis 277
Guys, Not sure if this should be here or in the Rangers Media Football Club part so bear with me .. . . In the John Hartson thread I had touched on the idea of Rangers and Celtic holding some form of charity game/tourney with all proceeds to Cancer Research Now, I know the logistics of such a thing are difficult but could RM lead the way? There are many forums out there. Ourselves, FF, Celtic Quick News etc etc etc What if the supporters organised something. All the forums pulling together a 7 a side team. Hold a tourney. Word of mouth would get the idea spread quick enough. I am also sure there would be no lack of willing donators (even a fiver each would be thousands of pounds if half the membership on each side chipped in) I am also sure somewhere like Goals would provide a pitch or 2 for free so no real set up costs. I think the idea could fly and I also think both sides could behave themselves for 2 hours of semi-competitive footie for a good cause. Anyone think this is a goer? Skol 401
Sounds like a good idea mate - do wonder if it's possibly a little bit soon? Possibly not though. Certainly a great gesture & I'm sure if news reached Mr Hartson he'd be pleased. Given the nature of Hartson's illness, how about including the Everyman Charity http://everyman-campaign.org/index.shtml as well as cancer research. Testicular cancer badly lacks publicity and given the demographic of men who would be playing, it certainly seems appropriate. This is, after all, a young man's disease. Everyman do good work trying to promote self-checking & research. A name for the tournament with some sort of ball-related pun usually flies well with the media too. Wish you all the best with it if you decide to go try and get the ball rolling with this. Ahem.
cam69r 8
You could, dare i say it let the celtic forums know aswel, im sure they would keen to help and the more people that they know the more they can spread the news to. Could even turn it into a rangers v celtic tourny of fans and forums! follow follow v kerrydale street and rangersmedia v talk celtic etc. could let papers know aswel. would be some good press for the old firm, maybe let people know we arent the villans the media make us out to be. anyway thats my 2 cents. I think he alluded to that in his opening post. Wouldn't work without making it an OF joint initiative
