Really, We dont need another Centre Back

Recommended Posts

Papac is our left back now, broadfoot is out til November and will need to get playing time in reserves, Mcculloch has his position in DM now, we really need a class centreback to progress, it shouldnt be about trying to make do with what we have now.

Boogie is away in January to the African nations and Weir is 40.

Broadfoot is pish and won't even be fit and we have no decent left back cover for papac so who plays in central defence in january should Weir be injured.

Jan 2nd v the beggars

Back 4

Whittaker-McCulloch-Papac-S.Smith

sorry no thanks,we NEED a new centre half.

That thought of that back four lining up at Parkhead made me vomit on myself.

While I have no issues with Weir of Bougie - Bougie is away most of January amd suspension or injury can also play a part. The players you mentioned could fill a hole (role) for one game but I would hate to see them get a run - and Wilson is 17. I do think we need a CB - at least we had cver last season with Daily and (??) Webster. WE need at least some cover if not a firts choice. Strangly as it may seem, I am sure the management team have spotted this as well and it aint the end of August yet.

Papac and/or Edu have both proven throughout their careers that they can play the position effectively

Really?

Please provide evidence for this claim.

I'll be interested to see what you come up with, given that Edu's played there once and that was at the Olympics for the USA.

Was thinking the same. The word "throughout" may just be a bit strong in this case.

I can only hope that if we sell a few more players then we may get another one or two in, right now we're far to weak in defence to last a season.

We need at least 2 defenders!

Whittaker is the only RB fit and is a liability, Broadfoot is out until November and is not good enough, Weir won't be able to play every game or even get close to playing every game, Wilson has no experience, S.Smith is not good enough, McCulloch... don't get me started.

We need 2 defenders, simple!

of course we need another centre back. We can play broadfoot or mcculloch there??? Aye we could but they are both pish. Imagine if we had to play man utd or real madrid with broadfoot and mcculloch at centre back. It would be embarassing, we would get slaughtered.

lets get real. a new center back MUST be in place before the transfer window shuts or we are in big trouble. mcculloch or papac does'nt give me much confidence in the spl nevemind champions league. get the finger out, and get negotiating mr bain

Edu and Papac are both incompetent at Centre-Back.

I haven't seen Papac play at Center Back alongside Bougherra, so I won't comment on how he'd get on, but as someone else said here, he's established himself as our Left Back, so it's irrelevant. I know I wouldn't have confidence in Broadfoot playing at Center Back when he's back playing. Bougherra & Weir are our only two serious options in central defense & even that's not perfect, given Weir's age. Weir's been brilliant for us, but I'd like to see him replaced with someone younger, sharper, faster & with better ball distribution. I'd only be keeping Weir for backup & cup games, but I have a feeling that Walter will run Weir into the ground this season like an old cart horse being flogged. I predict that Weir will play 50+ games. God, I hope I'm wrong though.
