Main Strength of the team?

Midfield is definitely where the main quality in the side lies. Mendes and Davis are the 2 best midfielders in the country imo. I have a real feeling Davis will be an absolute star this season, which is great but will lead to possible 10 million pound bids next summer ?

Have to agree about Mendes & Davis, but with Thomson not 100% & Edu still out, I think we're lacking quality backup in that area.

Left wing aside... the midfield... it used to be our defence funnily enough that we all believed could cope well in the premiership, now you would probably argue it is our midfield, capable of playing at a high level regularly. We are a few good quality signings away from a real good team

Agreed, it has to be the midfield. We have a strong defense, but its bare bones back there. The foursome of Mendes, Davis, Thomson, and Edu wouldn't look out of place in the EPL.

Yup... where as a couple of seasons ago we were all very confident with Papac Cuellar Weir Hutton in defence, now its been significantly weakened (but still not too bad, just a bit thin in terms of numbers)... Our midfield is probably that good we are going to have unhappy people that wont get to play, competition will be fierce though

What for you is our main strength? Midfield, Defence, Forwards? I think it's the centre of midfield, just lacking that bit of width but it will be interesting to see this coming season how our midfield improves on last season.

An interesting question mate. I think the answers depends on which competition we are competing in. For example:

SPL. Strengths.. Strikers (Boyd) and Midfield

CL: Defence.. Keepers, Back 4 .. Majdid/Davie.

All other comps.... nae bother.

But ... Our strength under Walter had been defence -- and will continue to be. God knows we are going to need it in the CL.... IF we get it together on all fronts, we are unbeatable in the SPL. Our midfield running on all cylinders can compete at the highest level. Davis MUST be moved into the center of midfield. He is incredible there. And.. Pedro... He needs Davis to be next to him. KT? Haven't mentioned him.. but we need his dig.

All in all... a solid side. And with the best man manager in the biz... title 53 is coming home and a last 8 CL spot as well. We have talent AND continuity all over the pitch.

its an interesting thought..

You would have to consider, that on a whole, we have equal strength in our midfield and strikers.

If you consider the depth we have in these areas:

Strikers: Boyd, Miller, Laff, Novo, Naismith, Velicka, Little - There is a good level of quanity and quality here, as well as an excellent mixture of age and experience

Midfield: Mendes, Davis, Thommo, Edu, Aaron, Fleck, Beasley, Mcculloch, Shinnie - again, great level of depth and mixture of youth with experience that can only keep us in good stead for the future

In defence, sadly, we are lacking in depth and a dare say, a bit of quality. Apart from Boogie, you would have to consider that the other positions are areas that we could either strengthen or at the very least, provide substantial cover. Given the tests ahead with the CL, we can ill afford an injury in the backline as there is only cover in the form of makeshift central defenders if either weir or boogie are crocked.

On the balance, i think walt has esembled a a decent level of quanity and quality middle to front, however if any money is available, it would be best spent on the back

OZ: I have to think that Wattie will sign another CB -- out of the blue. He has previous ? Cuellar and Boogie were the best signings we have made in years. I love Davie... but we need cover.

I said defence is our 'true' strength. I still believe it. Cuellar and Boogie had magical years. Why? Simple... Davie. but can he keep it up? Eventually... time takes it's toll -- no matter how fit you are. There is the Rangers level... then there is retirement. But I'd trust Davie this year. I would. He is too professional, too honest to line up when HE knows he's past it.

Our midfield is the class of the SPL -- no question. I am optimistic about this year. We also have Walter. A lot of folk slag him off because of being negative... but this pre-season, we have looked fantastic.

All in all.... very excited about this year. (tu)

<EDIT> Typos !
