pipedown27ready 108
It all kicks off tomorrow. Can anyone break Man Utd's stranglehold on the trophy? I think it's going to be a very interesting season. However, don't think Man City have anywhere near the required potential to break the top 4, especially with Mark Hughes in charge. My prediction: 1st - Man Utd 2nd - Chelsea 3rd - Liverpool 4th - Arsenal 5th - Tottenham 6th - Man City 7th - Aston Villa 8th - Everton 18th - Bolton 19th - Burnley 20th - Wolves
GersDude90 1
I think the top 4 will be the same as ever, but i really have no idea who'll win. Losing Ronaldo is huge for Man Utd, but the certainly have cover. I just dont see Chelsea constesting. They must keep Essian fit if they are going to mount a challange, and if Zirkov comes in and has a stormer of a season who knows? Arsenal have lost 2 big players, but somehow i dont think its weakened them that much. Adebyeor is pretty pish and Toure, although his pace will be missed, isnt a huge lose IMO. Liverpool have a real chance this season. Again its all down to the fitness of Torres and how well Aquillani gels. Burnley, Hull and Wolves to go down though. InnerwickBlue 16
1st Chelsea 2nd Liverpool 3rd Man United 4th Arsenal 5th Man City 6th Villa 7th Everton 18th Burnley 19th Hull 20th Wolves Chelsea playing with drogba and anelka up-front with lampard at the top of the diamond midfield will be too much for Man United who havent replaced ronaldo and the rest of their midfield is too old/not good enough for the title. Man City will be good but not good enough for the top 4. Villa will be right up there again and eck will keep birmingham up.
BlueSuedeSambas 57,332
Chelsea to win it with Man Utd runners up. Portsmouth, Wigan and Burnley to go down. Blackburn to take points off of City on the opening day.
alstone 374
i was gonna start this thread!!! 1 Chelsea 2 Man utd 3 Liverpool 4 Man city 5 Arsenal Chelsea are just stronger than man utd - have a better midfield with the likes of ballack essien and lampard compared to the average players like carrick fletcher anderson and the ageing scholes and giggs. Lost alot of prowes up front with tevez and ronaldo leaving - although wayne rooneys amazing and owen will score goals i just dont tink they will be better than chelsea this year! plus nani is a fucking liability up there!! Sorry mate, but Carrick is not an average player. His vision and passing abilities are second to none in the premiership now that Alonso has gone. Also, Man Utd are lucky they are getting Hargreaves back, they need a DM. Owen, Berbatov and Rooney WILL get a shitload of goals. And Macheda will pitch in coming off the bench. Chelsea only have Anelka as a prolific striker. Drogba's starting to get shite.

In all fairness, Iniesta and Xavi could make any player on the planet look worthless. And Deco? When was the last time he even started a game? He's pish in the premiership. Park is another excellent player in midfield for Man Utd. Man Utd's fullbacks do so well in helping out the attack too.

The full backs are good for man utd, i hope that rafael and fabio get a good run out this season, rafael at right back is superb!! To be honest i dont think man utd are as strong as chelsea but what kind of mad man would doubt sir alex!? Dont rate anderson, nani or park and think scholes and giggs are pretty much passed it but thats just my opinion. Im a man utd fan over chelsea but think chelsea have the edge! BillyBoy11 63
The league Imo will be decided on the signings still to be made. Man utd will or at least should buy a world class player to replace ronaldo and tevez. You cant lose 70 goals and expect to win the league? Also i think pompey will go down because they have a shite manager, sold their 3\4 best players and replace them with shite....

trueblue87 0
I believe Arsenal will surprise a few people this year. Arshavin will be a vital player for them. Anyway, happy the EPL's back.
papaguy51 941
Was gonna start a thread on this, but now that this is here.... Does anyone else see Man City's chase of Lescott as slightly illegal? They've already had two bids turned down and Moyes has said that he 'will not sell' the player. Yet given this, I wake up every day to see Hughes talk more about how he's speaking to people at Everton about Lescott etc and how much he wants to sign him, even though Moyes thoroughly denies that first claim. I'm really not comfy with the way City are handing this deal. In general, they've impressed me with their dealings so far, but this one is bordering on the illegal to me. There's no such thing really, they arent talking to the player yet, they are talking to the club and despite not getting the message that he isnt for sale they can talk to the club all they want. The only suspicious thing is Lescotts transfer request imo, but then again he might just want to leave.

Hughes has repeatedly said that he's been speaking to the 'people in charge' at Everton, while Moyes has continually denied that, saying that he's the only one in charge. Kenwright and Moyes are like two peas in a pod. There's absolutely no way that Kenwright will go behind his managers back or Moyes will walk away. There's something sinister in this from Man City.
