fleck21 0
By Kenny MacDonald, 22/08/2009 RANGERS manager Walter Smith will work for half this season WITHOUT a contract. The Ibrox manager's current deal expires in January and he's reached agreement with chairman Sir David Murray, he'll work after that until the end of the term without a new contract. Murray and Smith made the arrangement during the summer and Sport of the World understands it moves Rangers closer to a new management structure of Ally McCoist and Kenny McDowall being in charge at the club. Both Smith and Murray are comfortable with the gentleman's agreement and have agreed to review the managerial position next summer. If Rangers win their second straight title it's likely Smith will bow out on a high, moving to a role as Director of Football and leaving McCoist, McDowall and Ian Durrant in charge of first-team selection and tactics. If Celtic win the flag, Smith could be asked to stay on as boss to groom his assistants to take over the reins. Rangers have been given a bonus with the news that Cup Final hero Nacho Novo could be back in action next week. It was feared Novo would be out till November after a recurrence of his shoulder injury but Smith said: "He went to a specialist in England and he managed to get his shoulder back in again. "It's not quite as bad as we thought and there's a possibility he will be available for next week. It's a bonus for us." here is the link http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/scottish/s...t-contract.html

Lafferty, Bougherra, Mendes, Davis and Edu were brought in and each did their bit towards that. And the only reason we got beat by a 'pub team' is because yet again our chairman did not give walter resourses until Cuellar was sold after that game. thegersandme 0
Without a contract means squat in this context. Wattie will still get paid. Don't read too much into this -- considering the source? So the OP jumps on a headline in an inconsequential tabloid -- and most of you lap it up? Cmon Bears.. we're more intelligent? Just yesterday, some guy posted that Wattie had a 3 1/2 year contract and it was iron clad. So..... Who's telling porky's?
