fleck21 0
KRIS BOYD insists Rangers can make it to the last 16 of the Champions League. The Euro gods were smiling on Walter Smith's SPL champions as they dodged the big guns of Barcelona, Manchester United and Arsenal in yesterday's draw in Monaco. Gers were drawn in Group G alongside Spanish aces Sevilla, Bundesliga big boys Stuttgart and Romanian unknowns Unirea Urziceni. And Boyd believes Gers have been handed a wonderful opportunity to restore Scottish football's battered reputation and progress to the knockout stages for only the second time in their history. Happy The Rangers hitman said: "When you look at some of the teams we could have got and when you consider some of the other groups, then you have to be quite happy. "I'm not saying for a second that beating Sevilla, Stuttgart or Urziceni will be easy - it won't. "There are no easy games when you get through to the group stages of the Champ-ions League and we're all aware of that. "But we would rather be coming up against these sort of teams than the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona. "Think back to our last Champions League campaign. "We found ourselves in a real group of death back then. "Stuttgart, who we face again, were the German champions and we also had Barcelona and Lyon in there. "But in the end we were unlucky not to make the last 16. "I think we're better equipped this time. It won't be any easier but we have a chance." Meanwhile, Monaco have emerged as the latest continental outfit to target Boyd. SunSport can reveal the French outfit have Boyd on their wish-list ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline. Monaco boss Guy Lacombe could tempt Gers with a £1.5million bid and would offer Boyd a staggering deal worth £50,000-a-week. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/ho...ons-League.html
