RANGERS have been saddened to learn of the passing of Stan Holloway who was the first point of contact at Ibrox Stadium as commissionaire.

Stan, who was 82, was always immaculate, resplendent in his unifrom and cap and was brought to the club in 1982 when he was successful n a job application.

Stan Holloway and Peter Jacobs carry out the SPL trophyHe worked as the main entrance commissionaire at Ibrox until he was 65 and then worked on matchdays for Rangers until he was 75.

Indeed, Rangers brought him back specially to help bring out the SPL trophy on the final day of the dramatic 2002/03 season which he did with Peter Jacobs, the man who replaced him in the main reception day to day.

Stan was born in Hull and served in the merchant navy during the Second World War. He then joined the RAF and he settled in the Paisley area after being stationed in Scotland.

He is deeply missed by his partner Margaret and her daughter Catherine.

The funeral service will take place on Monday, October 5 at Co-operative Funeral Services, 4 Lady Lane, Paisley at 11:15am and on to Hawkhead Cemetery, Paisley at 12:00.

A good innings at 82 - R.I.P. wee man.

Sadly that classic front door commissionaire look has been forgotten at Ibrox and we now have someone with an ill-fitting jacket who, it is alleged, would NEVER take said jacket off in the presence of Bears for fear of being found out where his allegiances really lay.

Tattoos are a bitch, huh. :(

PS. And I don't men the Peter guy either.

RIP Stan, a true Rangers man and a serviceman too. All the best to those you left behind.

It is a shame there will be no minutes silence for him this weekend.

The worst thing is that there probably would have been, had Sunday's game been against anyone else!

RIP Stan, you'll be missed.

A minute applause would be possible IMO Rangers fans would go nuts if they started booing and clap louder (tu)

That invention of the scum should never be used to respect one of our own.

Silence or nothing, and if the club cave in and hold an applause then they should be ashamed.
