Scott-RFC 308
Brazil star Ronaldinho doubtful for World Cup squad Ronaldinho Brazilian Ronaldinho has played 87 times for his country Ronaldinho could miss the World Cup after being omitted from Brazil's final warm-up friendly ahead of the summer tournament in South Africa. He will not face Ireland at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium in London on 2 March. The AC Milan star, 29, has not played for Brazil since the start of 2009, but his improved recent form has encouraged supporters to call for his return. But coach Dunga has resisted pressure from the fans and local media in Brazil to recall the ex-Barcelona forward. The 1994 World Cup winning captain has kept faith with Michel Bastos (Lyon), Juan and Doni (both Roma), Kleberson (Flamengo) and Gilberto (Cruzeiro). Former Manchester City forward Robinho, who is now on-loan at Santos, has been included in the squad as has Liverpool midfielder Lucas. But there is no place for Manchester United midfielder Anderson. Ronaldinho won the World Cup in 2002 and famously knocked out England at that tournament after lobbing keeper David Seaman with a second-half free-kick. Brazil legend Pele was another who called for Ronaldinho to return to the fold. Ronaldinho has appeared 87 times for his country, scoring 32 times. He was also twice named World player of the year in 2004 and 2005 and has won the prestigious Ballon d'Or (european player of the year) once. :( Surely hes playing well enough to make the squad? At the last World Cup it would have been unthinkable that a fit Ronaldinho could miss the WC2010 squad

Guest SandyIniesta-Nordahl
Even if he's playing shite, I'd still take him to the world cup I wouldn't, apparently he has a negative effect on the rest of the squad.
Allzo 91
Wouldn't have thought he would have. He always looks like the happiest of guys, wether he's doing well or not. :o And a footballer of his stature surely would help out some of the younger lads? Muff 245
I think it would be a ridiculous decision not to take Ronaldinho to South Africa, should he be fully fit, and on form! He has shown this season, that he is still a class act!

papaguy51 941
How Dunga can justify taking Felipe Melo, Robinho and Lucas instead of Ronaldinho is utterly beyond my comprehension. It's a personal thing between the two, but you'd think Dunga would be man enough to put Brazil's chances at the World Cup over a petty squabble. TexasGers 96
I'm sure Brazil will be fine without him, but a World Cup without Ronaldinho doesn't seem right!

The worrying thing is that, all things considered, Lucas has probably out performed Robinho and the absolute disaster that is Felipe Melo this season. That's one good thing he's done in the last 14 months...... Just a case of being at the wrong club, he should never have went to Man City. Said this before but if he ends up at Barcelona in the summer, then we'll see the real Robinho.
Scott-RFC 308
I never thought he was that good even at Real Madrid. A couple of times for Brazil maybe.
papaguy51 941
He's a sand dancer and his attitude is pathetic. I dislike the guy tremendously. Robinho, that is.
disgruntled_bear 157
TBH most of the Brazilian players attitudes are shocking, far too many agents etc putting silly idea's in there heads. Talent wise though you can't knock them, Robinho still has time on his side if he wants it.

It's a personal thing between the two, but you'd think Dunga would be man enough to put Brazil's chances at the World Cup over a petty squabble. I don't like Dunga particularly, and find the football he has his team playing to be rather bland by Brazil's standards, but as far as I'm concerned his determination to cut out the star culture in the national squad is commendable. A player should be on form and professional on and off the field before being considered for selection. Ronaldinho is a shadow of his former self as a player and seems more interested in partying than football by all accounts. Why SHOULD he go to the world cup is a more valid question. I'd like to see him there if he earns his place. As far as it being weird if he's not there, I'm more bothered by the fact Ronaldo won't be going.
