How cold is it ? Cold enough that undersoil heating doesn't work ffs.....

Apparently the undersoil heating only keeps it from freezing, it won't thaw a frozen pitch (I might be wrong). They'll have left it off overnight to try to save a few quid..

Absolute shite that they've left it so late/ Do they have undersoil heating????????

Yes they do, but 'it doesn't work'.

Wouldn't surprise me that someone doesn't want ra poops to be a potential 13 points behind heading into the OF.

and made it snow over the last couple of days?

Nothing on the offical website yet :O

Just got the official text.

Freezing temperatures overnight leave a third of McDiarmid Park unplayable, leading to the late call off of the Rangers' meeting with St Johnstone.

RANGERS' meeting with St Johnstone has fallen foul of the weather after freezing overnight temperatures left one third of the McDiarmid Park pitch unplayable.

The decision to call off the match was made after referee Mike Tumilty inspected the pitch with a litte over an hour until kick off.

Walter Smith was disappointed not to have the match go ahead, but accepted referee Tumilty's decision.

He said: "It's disappointing, but in fairness I think it's the right decision by the referee. There's maybe about 25 yards of the pitch frozen, while the rest of it is ok.

"We have enough fixtures to squeeze in before the end of the season so from our own point of view, it's an awkward situation."

With a 12.30 or 12.45 kick-off, there should be a deadline for calling off the game. No way it should be getting called off this late. That's a total disgrace. Fans should be reimbursed their traveling expenses, buy the host club.

These clubs that will not use their mandatory undersoil heating to prevent frozen pitches should be hammered by the spl.We have seen it so many times that clubs will not switch it on in order to save money,or because it "annoys nearby householders" or because "the groundsman forgot" or because "it is not good for the grass"(Motherwell)--- basically because they are too mean to use it properly.

They had players out - maybe a bit of gamesmanship here to have a better squad for the replay .
