Rangers versus Hamilton Accies. at Ibrox Stadium on Saturday April 3rd., 2010. Kick-Off 3:00 PM.

Despite an atrocious performance in losing 4-1 to St. Johnstone in Perth on Tuesday night, Rangers FC is still top of the SPL with 70 points from 30 games with a goal difference of +48 goals. Celtic trail 10 points behind having played 31 games and with a goal difference of +25 goals. Our opponents Hamilton Accies is in 9th place with 33 points from 31 games and with a goal difference of -16 goals.

What does Walter do after that effort on Tuesday night? I really do not know. It was a combination of bad luck and a really bad performance.

I do not know if McGregor made the defence nervous or vice versa but there was a lack of confidence between the two. The defence was shaky and did not shut down oncoming forwards and that initself led to two goals. The first goal was a wonder strike that perhaps McGregor could have handled better if better positioned. Where was Whittaker? Also D Wilson did not close down Sheridan before he got off his shot.

The midfield was non existent and the strikers had no service except high balls lumped out of defence generally to a St. Johnstone player. Even then there was a lack of mobility and running from them (strikers).

I cannot think of ONE good player for Rangers on Tuesday night. So again what does Walter do?

I would go back to december and try and recapture that form. Play with speed on the wings. DMB and Novo. ( Sorry but for me both Naismith and Lafferty are strikers only.)

In midfield Davis in the middle with Edu, and rest both McCulloch and Thomson and have them on the bench.

Bougherra is still injured so perhaps we have to retain the same defence. Possibly start McCulloch in lieu of Wilson and possibly Alexander in lieu of McGregor.

I would play this team: Alexander, Whittaker, Weir, Wilson/McCulloch, Papac, DMB, Davis, Edu, Novo, Miller and Boyd.

The attitude of the team is what counts. That and pace. An up tempo attacking game. If we do that we win.

Prediction - Rangers 2-0 Hamilton.

Agree with Novo and Beasley starting. Wouldn't have McCulloch anywhere near Center Half and would keep Wilson and Weir.

Davis and Thomson in the middle with Boyd and Miller upfront.

Goalkeeping position is a difficult one but I think McGregor hasn't been himself recently and would probably go with Alexander.

Have to start the game strongly and go for the early goal. If the players are up for it we should win by a few.If not we could be in for a nervous 90mins.

3-0 Rangers :21:

If we have all our players fit apart from Boogie thenI think our best formation for this would be:

Alexander

Whittaker, Weir,Wilson, Papac

Novo, Davis, Thomson/Edu, Beasley

Boyd, Miller.

Walter will see how the players have reacted at training after the Perth fiasco and know who is in the right frame of mind for this game.

McGregor should start - did NOT feel he was at fault for any of the goals.
Wilson needs a break but will not get one until Bougherra is back - very guilty of the long ball to no-one - Hllywood passes are OK when they work and he can ping a ball but at the moment he needs to keep it simple. Real issue for me is Midfield - Davis, McCulloch, Thomson were really poor and Naismith not really suited to the role at all. Boyd and Miller had NOTHING to work with and Boys has has a few really shit games in the cold.

Lafferty just needs to start again next season and write this one off - woeful - but there is something there.

Dont think we have much real choice but to hope some of the players UP their game back to what we know they are capable of so we have to persevere with

McGregor
Whittaker Weir Wilson Papac
David McCulloch Thomson and Novo
Boyd and Miller

WS needs to put the proverbial rocket up this teams rear - once again its the manager that needs to get this group refocused and back to winning ways - a big ask after Tuesday but if anyone can he can.

WATP
