Wigan Eye Up James McArthur

Recommended Posts

HAMILTON midfielder James McArthur will spend next week on trial at Wigan - as he bids to join his former team-mate James McCarthy in the Premier League.

Stoke are also trailing McArthur and Accies could land £1million for him but SunSport can reveal that Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is now in pole position.

He wants to team McArthur with old pal McCarthy, a sensation in the second half of his debut season at Latics.

And SunSport understands Stoke spoke to Accies supremo Ronnie MacDonald about McArthur yesterday. They are aware Wigan are ready to pounce and want to move first.

Alex McLeish is keeping tabs on him too. McArthur's adviser George Gray said: "Things are really about to heat up for James.

"Wigan have been in touch and Roberto Martinez would love him but Stoke have come from nowhere."

Don't suppose we have a chance in getting him now he is seemingly Premiership bound. Apparently heading down to Wigan to be shown the ropes in coming weeks.

Played a fair amount of games for Hamilton at 22 and its captain. Good midfielder whenever ive seen him.

Premiership quality you think?

He's obviously a talented player who is destined for better things that a relegation battle with Hamilton.

You can only do so much when you are playing in a midfield with guys like Simon Mensing & Alex Neil.

I agree with this (tu)

He'll probs sign with Wigan, we could do no worse tbf bringing him in after all hes on a free transfer

He isn't on a free mate.

Talk of a 2 million pound fee.

Oh, I always thought he was on a free! stuff paying £2million on him. We have Davis Edu Thomson

Good player and a good Bluenose as well. With the right coaching it won't be long until he is knocking on the door of the Scotland set-up. Always thought he was the better player rather than the wee pape McCarthy
