Celtic may be interested in Adam Lallana

CELTIC are on the trail of England Under-21 ace Adam Lallana.

SunSport can reveal the Hoops have watched the free-scoring Southampton star.

The £2million-rated midfielder has already bagged 18 goals for Saints this season.

And he could become one of Neil Lennon's first signings if he lands the Hoops hotseat.

Lennon revealed at the weekend he has already discussed summer signings with Parkhead chief executive Peter Lawwell.

Lennon said: "We have talked a bit about it and looked at players for next season.

"I have some ideas but we will talk about that in more detail as the season progresses."

Highly-rated youngster Lallana is among the contenders for a dream switch to Parkhead.

He has caught the eye of several top clubs this term with his scoring exploits from midfield.

The 21-year-old scored in last month's 4-1 Johnstone Paints Trophy Final win over Carlisle at Wembley. And he hit a double yesterday in the 2-1 League One win over Leyton Orient at St Mary's.

It is understood that Lallana is on a lengthy list of summer targets being assembled by the Hoops hierarchy.

Caretaker boss Lennon is aware of Lallana's fine form - but he'd be certain to faced stiff opposition for the youngster's signature.

Tottenham and Fulham are among the Premiership outfits understood to be eyeing the starlet.

Saints landed Lallana from south coast rivals Bournemouth as a schoolboy in 2000.

A tribunal ordered them to pay just £10,000 - but they must also hand over 25 per cent of his sell-on fee.

Everything Lennon said suggests he will be the manager next year, talking about buying players, bringing McManus back etc, good times.

Hope so.

Been said by quite a few people even in the media, he shouldnt take the job. The players are only responding to the media hype just now, you'll see all lennons old pals in the paper backing him, celtic will win the scottish cup and lennon will be given the job on a full time basis. Celtic will be up the gutter again next season, and everyone will want lennon out.

How many folk that are actually linked with Celtic end up joining them? In January it was Pedersen, St Ledger, Kitson etc the only one that joined was Keane. I like Lallana in the games I have seen but it probably just paper talk as usual
