disgruntled_bear 157
A lot of high praise for Steven Davis and rightly so, but is he better than Barry Ferguson was for us in his prime?.I'm undecided to be honest.
Garry88 0
A lot of high praise for Steven Davis and rightly so, but is he better than Barry Ferguson was for us in his prime?.I'm undecided to be honest. No where near in my opinion. Davis is still far too inconsistant to be considered in the same bracket as Barry in his prime.
Muz333 359
If he had a season in his natural position of CM then it would probably be a fairer comparison.

plymouthranger 3,842
Better.Ferguson was in a Rangers squad with the likes of Gio, Albertz, de Boer, Kanchelskis etc. playing alongside him. Most players would of been enhanced by that. Davis seems equally as talented as Barry, despite playing alongside the likes of McCulloch and co. Barry in his prime was different class although he was playing with better players around him. Would love to see Davis with the same calibre of players. I'm sure his game would go up a notch or two. Barry for me but only just.
whitey126 42
No, as much as I like Davis, Ferguson in his prime was an awesome player 2002/03 season was when BF was at his peak IMO
teddybear111 0
The old barry before he went to blackburn was better but when he returned to ibrox he was a bit inconsistent. But i would still say barry over Davis but still have so much praise for Davis ..
Bear_Necessities 41
i don't think there is much between the 2 but if pushed i would go with barry
SuperRangers 2
Sorry, but as much of a good player as he, Davis is no were near Fergie in his prime.Thats a fact.

AMMS 27
I'm sorry but this simply underlines how our standards have fallen. Davis is arguably our best player just now but he's behind Ferguson today far less when he was in his prime.
GersDude90 1
Not even close.Fergie, in his prime, could have potentially played in any team in the world. As much as I like Davis, and he could become an even better player, he's got a long way to go before being considered to be as good as fergie. TexasGers 96
If Davis stays for a few more years and puts up the same standard of performance, he'll be on the level of Barry

Doesn't this show how good Barry was in his prime? he played along side some fantastic players, yet still stood out and never looked out of place, Davis stands out in a team of less ability, although i wouldn't compare the 2 anyway
disgruntled_bear 157
No chance. Barry in his prime was world class.Barry was good, but he was no where near Worldclass.
disgruntled_bear 157
Few interesting answers, they are no doubt Barry was a great player playing with some very talented individuals around him. But I do see a lot of similarities in Steven Davis.
TexasGers 96
This is really the first season that Davis has put it all together. Obviously he had several very good performances when he was on loan, and last season, but this year I can only think of a handful of games where he hasn't been one of our 2-3 best players. It's also harder for me to accurately gauge the two players because Barry had so much more European experience.
disgruntled_bear 157
Barry's 2002/2003 season was simply fantastic.Nobody will deny that, that season was the best of his career. So much so it secured him a move down south to Blackburn.
StrongbowLoyal. 36
In a word NO.Fergie in his prime was world class, Davis wil surpass him though as he is more of a gent
