CanadianBacon 2,088
Walter Smith quite rightly pointed out the biased-towards-ra-Selik in the SPL split and claims (again rightly) that he's not been here long enough (3-years now) to have noticed the long-term trend. What was Bain doing during the years before Smith arrived and, crucially, why didn't he clock this then? Could be the reason of his hands were tied, Walter has nothing to lose coming out with bold statements and pointing things out.

I and more than a few other 'Gers fans believe his and Smiths hands were tied by a certain charlatan, masquerading as our chairman, dignified silences and all. It's pretty telling that since he has 'retired' Bain and Smith have, on a few occasions, felt the need to vent their feelings towards what is happening in this country. Ace 3,556
As the owner of the club, SDM will have set the policy on press releases & comments made. His policy was always one of dignified silence, sometimes that worked, other times it did not.I imagine that Bain had to follow his employers wishes.I now detect a reversal in the policy since Johnston was made chairman, a fan who seems willing to let the club defend itself & its support more readily than previously. dee9 3,972
When walter smith opens his mouth everyone sits up and takes notice, the man is as honest as the day goes by and has more experience in his pinky than half the other muppets in scottish football! Im delighted walter has taken the reigns ragarding the split not bain!!
Ozblue 4,331
I'm of the opinion that Sir Walter should be removed from his current position as manager of Rangers Football Club and that the job of manager be made redundant.Sir Walter will oversee the new position as Rangers Chief Executive Officer in charge of the Civil Freedom & Historical Rights of Rangers F.C. that will challenge all unjust attacks and lies being perpetrated by certain paranoid and fawning jealous individuals and groups.A new department; 'More Honesty and No keeping Silent' (Mhanks) will deal with Foreign Affairs subjects such as Paranoia, National Identity, Sporting Integrity. It will incorporate the new Dossier decoding department that will be responsible for educating the Media and the SPL on how easy it really is to ensure a balance of fixtures in a home and away environment.Sir Walter will of course still have full control over Player matters, so he has appointed Martin Bain as an Apprentice.Mr Bain will be educated on how a CEO should look after a Clubs' best asset......Its Fans. welsh103 12
The years where we had to play a top 6 team away from home 3 times were almost all when we had no chance of winning the title because of celtic being too far ahead. When it looked like the title would go to the wire both ourselves and Celtic got fair split fixtures. So not like it hindered our chances of winning titles, if you can understand all that

If you say these things when you are behind in the league, or, struggling, it looks like whining, or, at the very least, can be twisted to show it in that light.
