Laudrup talks about walter

Recommended Posts

from the daily mail

'It's necessary to keep Walter Smith in place. It's a must, really,' the 41-year-old said. 'You just have to look back four years to when Rangers brought in Paul le Guen. It took ages for le Guen to settle and eventually he got the sack.

'When you are talking about a club as big as Rangers, you need a manager who knows it inside out and understands exactly what Rangers means to so many people. 'That man is Walter Smith and he's already at the club, so it would be a terrible mistake to allow him to walk away.

'He has shown that without buying players over the past two years he can still get the best out of his squad, winning titles and getting into the Champions League. 'You know what you are getting with Walter Smith and, hopefully, any prospective owners will recognise that and move to make sure he isn't lost to the club. Every effort should be made to convince him to stay.'

I thought that it was Smith who was deciding whether to stay or not, and that it was dependent on how much he would have to spend. Have I misunderstood?

Going on your previous posts, you're not daft. So why can't you see that there is a power struggle going on at Ibrox, and Smith is part of it?

Alan Rough?

Smith wants what is best for Rangers looking at it purely from

his own perspective as the manager. It's not quite that simple though, is it?
