In tomorrow's DR Walter has demanded:

Thomson be given a new long term deal after rejecting a new offer from Boro.

Wilson will be sold but for no less than 5m and will not attempt to offer him a new deal, Liverpool had an offer rejected within last few days.

Good on ye Walter, especially with Wilson.

He got a few games in the 1st team this season and though he did ok, he seems tae think he's a world beater, and wants tae move on tae better things.

Hope the club stick tae their guns and demand 5 million for him..................................and if they don't get it, stick him back in the reserves............................without a renewed contract.

We'll see then how fuckin guid he is, or thinks he is!

It would be good if it was true .. but who knows ?!?!

On a side note, if we value Wilson at £5m then shouldn't any contract negotiations be based on that very same figure .. no wonder the boy wants an increase !!

Also, i though Wilson was in his final year, asking for £5m for a player who can sign a pre-contract in January .... ballsy play by Rangers, hope it doesn't backfire.

As Wilson will be 19 by the time his contract expires, Rangers will still be due some money as he is under 23? Or does that only matter if the club he moves to is within Scotland?

Bougherra is signed on until 2012, why would they be talking about a new contract with him?

Because even when a player has a year to run on his contract it weakens your ability to negotiate. The other club knows you have to sell or risk losing that player the following summer for nothing. I'd like to see us get into a position where we don't let any player under 30 contract to be under two years to go.

not doing this is why we have so many players running down their contracts

every big club gives their players a new 4/5year deal even if they still have 3years left, we should be doing the same

DR means 'Daily Record' I presume?

I wouldn't wipe my arse with a Daily Record let alone buy one for reading.

It's a gutter rag infested by gutter-dwelling hacks and if you pop along to your local library you'll find back-issues of this downmarket tome in the fiction section.

There's not an ounce of integrity (there's that word again) involved in that rag - fuxsake, Dim Trayknob and Spew Keechbuttons both work for the Retard - neither of whom have the balls (or integrity) to stand up and declare which team the REALLY support.

Aidrie and Clyde-fucking-bank.

Aye right.

If we can offer Bougherra and Thomson a contract why not Boyd? Bougherra must want a hefty amount of money so now that should go towards Boyd.

We have offered Boyd a contract, which is an improvement on what he had, the difference is Boyd hasn't agreed to the contract on offer yet.

Not denying that, but the poster I quoted indicated that we hadn't offered Boyd a contract. :)

Rangers boss Walter Smith to show contract rebel Madjid Bougherra the door - as he battles to keep Danny Wilson and Kevin Thomson

May 27 2010 Exclusive by Keith Jackson

Walter Smith Image 2

Walter Smith laid out his new blueprint for Rangers yesterday as the futures of Kevin Thomson, Danny Wilson and Madjid Bougherra were thrashed out.

Record Sport can reveal Smith only signed his new one-year deal after lengthy talks with chief executive Martin Bain that focused on his plans for the three players.

And yesterday - just hours after it was announced that Smith will be staying on for one more year - his plans were getting into full swing as Bain:

Booted out Boro's bid for Thomson and prepared to offer the 25-year-old a new long-term Ibrox deal.

Ordered Liverpool to double their bid for Wilson.

Sanctioned the sale of Bougherra after the wantaway Algerian turned down a new four-year contract.

The whirlwind boardroom business kicked off at breakfast time when Bain phoned Boro chief executive Keith Lamb to tell him that Thomson is NOT for sale.

Instead, the Ibrox club's bankers have agreed to fund an immediate wage rise for Smith's midfield linchpin.

Bain now plans to begin urgent negot iat ions with Thomson to get the player, who is entering the final year of his current deal, tied up.

However, there will be NO new talks with Wilson who has turned down the offer of an extended contract.

But Liverpool have been told they won't land the defender on the cheap.

It was expected that Rangers would accept a fee of around £3million for the 18-year-old after turning down a £2m bid at the end of the season.

But, in fact, Record Sport can reveal that in the last few days Bain officially knocked back a second and improved Anfield offer for the player.

He has now made it clear Rangers will not be tempted into doing business until at least £5m is on the table.

But Rangers are resigned to selling Bougherra following his decision not to accept a two-year extension to his existing two-year contract.

The club now believe the Algerian has set his heart on a big-money move and will not stand in his way if the price is right.

A senior source at the club told Record Sport last night: "It's been a hectic start to Walter's final year but now the management have been fixed up on new deals, there is a determination to get these other issues sorted out as quickly as possible."
