Breaking news on SSN, They are using the two assistant behind the goal lines for next years Champs League Qualifiers, they must have seen this as a success this season and IMO I Didnt see them give many big decisions.

I can only remember one decision of note that was made by the byline assistant and that was the wrongly awarded penalty for Benfica against Liverpool in Lisbon. The ironic thing was that the referee wouldn't have given it, which kind of flies in the face of the philosophy that these guys are supposed to help the referee get more decisions correct.

Apart from that i've seen no evidence that they do ANYTHING.

My only memory is from a Fulham game (think it was against Roma) at Craven cottage where despite being about 2 feet from the action the additional assistant behind the goals instructed the ref to send off the wrong man.

It wouldnt be so bad but I think it was Brede Hangeland that was the victim when it should have been Aaron Hughes. Not exactly Dopplegangers...
