Platini's New Rules

Profligate clubs face being banned from the Champions League and Europa League after European football's governing body Uefa approved new plans.

The example of Portsmouth, who became the first Premier League team to go into administration, has highlighted the financial excesses in England.

Uefa president Michel Platini has now passed rules which would force clubs to operate within their means.

Clubs will only be able to spend what they themselves generate.

Big cash injections from wealthy benefactors like the owners of Chelsea and Manchester City would also be restricted under Uefa's Financial Fair Play plan.

The system is being phased in and bans would not be able to be imposed theoretically until the 2014-15 season at the earliest.

About time too.

Next up should be fairer distribution of CL places and TV revenues.

Platini should make it priority number 1 to ensure the CHAMPIONS of Scotland and every other EUROPEAN nation enter the CHAMPIONS league at the group stage.

It's an utter disgrace that this is no longer the case.

The CHAMPIONS league no longer deserves the right to use the word CHAMPIONS in it's description. It's really just a European Super league for the clubs from the richest leagues and clubs from the countries with the biggest populations to maximise veiwing figures and earn as much revenue as possible for the fat cat clubs , sponsors and UEFA.

Rant over.

That´s just your opinion on how it should be. Imo, it should be balanced between getting the champions of each country in it, and getting the best 32 teams in Europe in it, which is how it currently is.

As for your second para, that makes as much sense as saying the 1st division shouldnt be called the first division because its not actually the 1st division, its the 2nd, or the third. And the championship isnt full of champions, therefore change the name. It´s not really important that what its called doesnt reflect exactly what it is. I´m sorry, but the champions of luxembourg getting in the CL and the runners up of Spain/England etc not getting in it would be very very unfair.

And as for your point on "fat cat clubs". Hypocrisy is what that is. Who´s the fatest in Scotland, and has been since a long long time ago, and has shed little tears over other clubs below them? Us. We have been feeding of these clubs forever, we take their best players, make sure the gap between us stays, all because we are from Glasgow, population 600k, as aposed to Cowdenbeath, population a farmer and his goat.

You and me both would be happy if we got more money from Europe, at the expense of bigger richer clubs, but what about losing alot of our TV income and revenue to the likes of Hamilton who only draw in a couple thousand every week? Would that be fair?

The quicker people realise that UEFA don't want teams from small populated countries in their so called 'Champions League', the quicker you will all sleep better at night.

What Platini says and what he actually thinks are worlds apart. He makes it seem as if he wants all clubs, big or small to be equal, but in reality, he wants the big clubs with massive TV drawing potential to be in the "Champions League" and teams from little diddy Leagues to be fighting it out against the lesser teams from Spain, Italy, Germany & England in the Europa League....Sort of like an annual Don Quixote jousting at fucking windmills scenario.

The whole concept of a level playing field in football is a myth and has been for a fucking long time and it ain't going to change anytime soon.Teams from the larger populated countries will flourish and get richer, while the others will be thrown crumbs to fight over from the Elite table.

Platini is a two faced little cunt.
