I hate the transfer window

Has to be the most frustrating part of football..we have to sit idlely by as see our team supposidly start looking to the future with players the likes of jelavic, barazite, benaloune, wernberg etc all being linked with moves, only for everything to turn on its head and suddenly we are after players like beattie and smith who are clearly past their best!

i hate this time of year, the constant speculation, the media sensationalism, its too much for me to handle <cr>

i guess all we can do is sit back and hope that smith and co get it right, and lets face it, since he has come back, he hasnt done alot wrong :praise:

i love it but hate the fans panic, desperation, and moaning when we dont sign anyone in the first few days, its also funny how so many fans believe every story from the rhags for players that we are linked with

patience is needed, a cool head

spot on, but you have to admit its hard...we all think we are armchair managers, and it can get really frustrating when we see young players like jelavic getting linked, only to find out players in their twilight are the reality...

I agree with this. However, OZ has a point - we have went from being interested in Jelcavic to Tommy Smith and James fuckin Beattie. It does pose some questions about our ability to buy and source players good enough with a sell-on value, which we need whilst the club is in a poor financial state.

we wont know the answer till Sep 1st when the window closes, thats when we can judge the activity and at the end of the season is when we can judge the signings

The past few windows we have had to sit and watch due to us being totally pratted

This season we have a small amount to play with and the club are trying to play clever on various fronts. They don't want to sign guys on day 1 of window as they will then be paying their wages etc for 2 months while still waiting on monies coming in from s/T sales. Then they were waiting to see if the mhanks would be dipping into the C/L TV money pot - thankfully they blew it and we gained another £2m approx. Then there is the changes to the rules in the EPL and the 25 man squad, this has a direct effect on the players already at a club as well as the flexibility of the club to sign new/more players.

This transfer window has a long way to go this year - i think there will be even more business done in the final 24-48 hours than ever before with potential "bargains" to be hand if in right position to act ( i can see the mhanks getting bell-end on a loan deal through this ).

My concern is that our nerve is going and we are resorting to tried and trusted ways of buying guys who "were" good and hope they can re-discover their previous form with us while paying over the odds with no future return.

Here's hoping we are playing it clever for once.

Agreed clearly the Jelavic deal has been smoke and mirrors to make us happy and the real targets are 2 OAP strikers GREAT cant wait now.

Would be better playing McCoist than this joker Tommy Smith

I'll be gutted if we don't get Jelavic, he would have been a cracker in my opinion, now we could be stuck with another two OAPs, and to make matters worse, the scum have just cinfirmed they are in talks with Man City for belend

no chance, source?
