Get Jamie Ness on loan

Gutted for the kid. Must feel completely hopeless when Smith will shoe horn a player into a unfamiliar position in order to avoid playing a youth. When McCulloch is back he has next to no chance. Actually no chance.

Hes going to stagnate atleast until Smith leaves, i'd like to see him getting a game elsewhere until then. He is too old for the u19s and with the reserves finished it frustrating that the guy's chance at a career at this level has gone to waste like this.

Get set for the IWWT posts, mate.

This is nothing new, and Smith won't be changing now. It's now just a case of seeing out this year and hoping that McCoist doesn't follow in his footsteps, although I'm not too confident, looking at the Broadfoot and McCulloch extensions.

We can't afford to send players out on loan.

But if hea going to get about an hour of game time over the entire season (if that) then whats the point in him being here. He'll be 20 this season. Its ridiculous. I don't expect Fleck to get a proper run out when he comes back either.

Yep. Real shame.

Actually Muff, but if he is going to sit on the bench or not even in the team for most of this season then its better to send him out. I'd rather him go somewhere else till January atleast and see how things are going then. We can also recall anytime if we need (can stipulate that to the team who want him on loan, ie first div team or summit)

:anguish:

Naismith got his chance today and was MOTM

Whats the problem?

Smith's constant need to stick to a certain group of players, and play them out of position. If there are players at the club who are not considered good enough to step in at the age of 19 or 20, they may as well let them go. They need to play to get experience.

We had Jordan McMillan, a player who is comfortable playing CM, on the bench while Jamie Ness who is a CM was not even in the squad.

If the youth players are going to get a chance then Walter Smith has to stop this idea of shoving first team regulars out of position to plug gaps. If we have a youth player who is comfortable in the position that needs filled then give him a chance rather than playing Steven Naismith at CM!

Make it Shinnie then. The point is still valid.

what is valid, do you mean it gives you grounds to have a go at walter for whatever reason, even though we are one game into the season?

You'd think every youth player we have is a wonderkid the way some people go on

All for giving them a crack but how many of the people on here who are biggin them up have actually seen enough of these boys to form such an opinion (I know some of you have but to the rest I am not sure the RTV highlights every now and then qualify ye as a master tactician)

Would you rather go to the very difficult Easter Road wi Big Lee patrolling the centre or Jamie Ness? Answer honestly now.

You'd genuinely think our senior players were all failures instead of battle hardened pro's who have delivered 2IAR when every T*rrier apologist and their dog has done there damndest to undermine them. These guys stood shoulder to shoulder for the Rangers. Again, again and again.

These guys have earned their place and until they start losing on a regular basis (something they seem to be rather adept at NOT doing) then a touch of reality wouldn't go amiss.

Sorry for the rant but sometimes we are way too hard on the guys who've done NOTHING wrong.

I don't think people are moaning about Naismith's performance yesterday, they'd be stupid to do that.

I think people have the issue over the pre-season boastings from the management team about how youth would get a chance and play a big part, yet as soon as a space becomes available for one of our better young players like Ness, Shinnie or McMillan, it's filled by a player who isn't quite good enough to be an out and out striker or winger.

Did anyone ever see Naismith near central midfield before last season? I know I didn't.

He has played in CM before for us, not from the start but later in the game, im positive, 100% positive that he was put in the centre in a game, possibly against hearts... it was at ibrox im sure
