Another £300k in the bank

DANNY WILSON will finally pull on a Liverpool jersey at Anfield tonight - and bank £300,000 for Rangers.

The Scotland Under-21 star will make his bow against Northampton Town in the Carling Cup two months after he left Ibrox in a deal worth a potential £5million.

SunSport understands the guaranteed £2m fee agreed between the two sides will be boosted by £300,000 every time he makes a top team appearance up to the total figure.

Wilson instantly became the most valuable teenager in Scottish football history the minute he signed his lucrative contract with the Merseyside giants.

The 18-year-old has had to wait patiently for his chance - but now he can prove why Anfield boss Roy Hodgson and the Reds' ambassador and academy director Kenny Dalglish were so keen to take him to Liverpool.

Wilson, meanwhile, is keeping his cool as the big moment nears.

Northampton are the only League Two side left in the competition and earned their trip to Anfield by beating League One Brighton and Championship outfit Reading.

Wilson said: "I just hope the manager thinks I am ready because to start a game for the first time would be special.

"If not I will work even harder to try and make it happen. I was an unused substitute against Rabotnicki in our first home game of the season and the crowd were buzzing.

"There was a great atmosphere, so to play for the first time is something I am really looking forward to.

"I had never been to Anfield before that and I enjoyed being part of it.

"It was good to see how the crowd reacts and get behind the team. It would be fantastic to get to Wembley.

"We have just got to take it one step at a time. There are no easy ties as cup football is a one off.

"Sometimes it's tough playing against a team from a lower league - because this is their cup final and they are out to make an impression.

"You know they will put everything into the game.

"We won't take our foot off the gas as we know that complacency can sometimes kick in."

well, how many times has he started this season for the main team? What about the reserves? - he has been there 3 months, and played only ONCE for the reserves and never for the main team. liverfool hae alot of "better" CD'd than wilson so if he isnt getting a game for the main team, nor reserves, what is he doing with his career? you dont play, you wont be noticed

The reserves have had three games this season, we don't know if he was injured or on international duty with Scotland and missed two of them

Do you think Liverpool are really going to sign a promising 18 year old defender from the SPL and throw him into EPL matches?

Would be nice if this was the case, £3 million for 10 appearences.

Would Liverpool do that?

I thought it would of been 1.5million after 10, and the same again after say 20/25 or something?

Portsmouth had a stupid fee for that boy Dindane last season who was on loan, £4million after 22 appearences. Fucking nuts.

That's the whole problem with the EPL Ben, they are getting indecent amounts of money from TV rights that they have lost all sense of perspective about what is considered normal in the real world.

It is fucking lunacy when guys who would be lucky to lace a decent players boots are commanding fees that are even way too high for what genuine brilliant players are actually worth, to kick a ball around.
