5cotland 71
Rangers manager Walter Smith has revealed the SPL champions are close to agreeing a contract extension with striker Kenny Miller. Scotland forward Miller scored twice in last Saturday's 4-0 win over Dundee United, taking his season's tally to eight, and was rested as Rangers claimed a 7-2 Co-operative Insurance Cup win over Dunfermline. Miller's contract with Rangers expires at the end of the season, but Smith is optimistic of retaining the services of the striker. Smith said in Rangers News: "We are not far away from an agreement. "Hopefully we can get together in the next few weeks and everything will be ironed out. "Eight goals from Kenny is terrific. He is playing very well right now. "His role has changed slightly from one where he was leading the line to one where he is now getting into the penalty area. "His confidence in terms of finishing is there for all to see and he has shown he is more than capable of putting the ball away."http://www.teamtalk.com/rangers/6393373/Gers-close-to-new-Miller-dealRangers manager Walter Smith has lauded the contribution of Kenny Miller and revealed the Clydesdale Bank Premier League champions are close to agreeing a contract extension with the striker.Scotland forward Miller scored twice in last Saturday's 4-0 Clydesdale Bank Premier League win over Dundee United, taking his season's tally to eight, and was rested as Rangers claimed a 7-2 Co-operative Insurance Cup win over Dunfermline on Tuesday.Miller's contract with Rangers expires at the end of the season, but Smith is optimistic of retaining the services of the striker."We are not far away from an agreement," Smith said in Rangers News. 1st_Jan_1994 4,868
Wonder how long the contract will be?I'd say 3 years. I reckon that would be the bargaining tool with Kenny.Like for example, he wants a few grand outwith what we can offer within our wage cap, so we give him the 3rd year instead of the 2 to compensate.Just a guess? Bear 25
I think he will sign because he knows once his extension at Ibrox finishes he will be able to go to the Middle east and play as they do sign players at the end of their peak. Ok, it wont be for the same money they can offer him now but it will still be a very nice pension top up
simplythebest 11,437
Three years will take him up to the age of 34.Hope his dodgy knee will still be holding out by then!
