Rangers versus Aberdeen at Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen, on Sunday September 26, 2010. Kick-off at 12:45 pm.

Rangers head to Aberdeen tied at the top of the SPL table with Celtic with 15 points from 5 games and having a goal difference of +10.

Neither of these teams look likely to drop many points this season and it is vital we win this game. Celtic have a home game versus Hibernian, but I expect them to win.

Aberdeen always play Rangers well at Pittodrie and I think they will do so once more if we give them too much respect. If Rangers come out playing confidently and play an attacking line-up I think we could score a few goals and put this game behind us fairly easily. If we show them too much respect then we will be more defensively minded and may struggle to win this game. Aberdeen will be well up for this game - Hartley and Diamond especially - if they play.

Walter has a full squad to choose from apart from Beattie who has had a hamstring injury.

The squad is larger than some think as Webster and Foster add choice in defence and Weiss and Lafferty choice in midfield and up front. Hutton and Wylde also performed exceptionally well versus Dunfermiline and Kerkar should soon be signed.

That said Walter will probably go for experience and I expect to see this team:

McGregor, Whittaker, Bougherra, Weir, Papac, Davis, McCulloch, Edu, Naismith/Lafferty, Miller and Jelavic.

Weiss will probably be on the bench as will one of Naismith/Lafferty. I liked Hutton a lot versus Dunfermiline, but he too will be on the bench. Naismith to me does not achieve a lot, but he has played much, much better this season so far and has added a couple of good goals. Lafferty well is Lafferty, but scored a fine hat-trick against Dunfermiline in midweek.

This game will be tough but I think we have a great combination up front in Miller and Jelavic who are capable of scoring goals if they get a decent service from midfield. That is the key. We need an on form Steve Davis and some good service out wide from Naismith/Lafferty/Weiss.

If we get that then we will stroll through this game. If not then we will struggle as Aberdeen will be highly motivated.

If our attitude is correct and we play an attacking up tempo game then I see nothing but a Rangers victory.

My prediction is Rangers to win by 2 goals. Aberdeen 1-3 Rangers, with Miller and Jelavic on the score sheet.

Agree with you that this will be a very difficult game, especially if we show them too much respect which we usually do at Pittodrie. Hopefully we are a few up at HT and have a comfortable afternoon.

Also, Hartley is injured for about 2 months I think, not sure of any other Sheep injuries (tu)

I'd love to see Gregg Wylde on the bench for Walter to give the last 20 mins. With Weiss on one side and Wylde on the other it would be brilliant late on in the game to have a greta amount of pace from the wide areas which wev been lacking for far too long

I think if we have weiss miller and jelavic all starting then we could put a couple of goals past the sheep.

Get wylde and hutton on with 20 mins left if we have a good league.

hartley is very important to them so it good hes injured.

the defence and front line pick itself , the midfield area is the key

i would go with...davis mcculloch edu weiss

naismith will come in for the bursaspor game in a midfield 5....naismith davis edu jig weiss

I'm pretty agreeable with the team nvager has pencilled in.

Weiss to come on from the bench late on to run the ring out of them.

McGhee will try and hit us on the break by concentrating on a blanket defence, so expect our 1st penalty of the season up there if Weiss is on.

Jelavic should give Diamond a torrid time of it as long as we can get the proper service to him, so we are going to need Davis to thread the needle here for our "Wide" players to get the crosses in from the byline.

Neither Foster or Velicka can play in this game so I expect us to win by at least 2 goals...We HAVE to win here and let Wednesday night look after itself.
