Walter on Aberdeen only wanting to beat us

Recommended Posts

Walter Smith last night accused Aberdeen of only ever wanting to beat Rangers.

The Ibrox boss watched his side finally win at Pittodrie for the first time in nearly four years after they came back from two goals down to win 3-2 and return to the top of the table.

Trailing to first-half strikes from Scott Vernon and Chris Maguire, the champions hit back through a Kenny Miller double and Nikica Jelavic's tapin to give Smith his first victory in the Granite City since he returned as boss in 2007.

And a seething Smith couldn't resist a dig at the Dons. He said: "Aberdeen seem to take great pleasure in saying that the only team they want to beat is Rangers.

"I'm not like that, I prefer my team to try to beat everybody we play.

"If there is an innocuous foul it is like a crime against humanity up here, for both teams."

“It’s a very difficult situation for a referee to handle.

“The most innocuous fouls are greeted by howling and hollering. They should maybe keep it for the games against Kilmarnock. They seem to take great pleasure in saying the only team they want to beat is Rangers. I’m not like that. I prefer my team to try to beat everybody. That’s what we try to do.”

Getting stick in :mutley:
