Amac9 2,060
He worked hard and covered plenty of ground over the 90 minutes but I thought once again he was very poor on the ball.He gets caught in possession far too often, his passing is poor, he slows the game down too much, gets caught out of position and does not win enough tackles for someone of his physique. IMO he is our less efficient version of Gareth Barry. I hope he can get back to a reasonable level of form because we will need all our midfielders firing on all cylinders if we are to progress to the last 16.That was the only downside in what was an otherwise perfect European night at Ibrox. simplythebest 11,437
Edu was a nightmare especially in the second half.

thomas_91 0
Agree his passing was poor, should have done better with his chance in the 2nd half, apart from that thought he did ok
1st_Jan_1994 4,868
The way the opposition midfield played around Edu was alarming.Don't get me wrong, big McCulloch didn't have the best of games either but for playing with 2 defensive midfielders, they seen far too much of the ball and played around us.But as I said in another thread, that's perhaps harsh, we won against a good team.Last 16 is in our hands. Jimfanciesthedude 24,058
yeah he was poorer tonight even though he improved in the second halfhe needs to learn quickly that time on the ball isnt always there
mmrfc1873 48
Thought Edu played well when he was involved, should be more consistent imo.McCulloch didn't have the best of games by his usual standards.Davis was poor, non-existent for the majority of the game. delamonty 992
He is an awful footballer. Too slow on the ball. Let's the ball go past him (when a defender is near) to get it on his right foot. Juvenile stuff. I know we won tonight and I'm as pleased as anyone. But I agree. EDU is just not very good.In thinking about it, there was a debate about him and the fact he did not grow up playing Football. It shows. What he should do by instinct, he needs to think about. I think that's his basic issue. He'll never progress to a level his athleticism should allow him to because of this.I think we were lucky tonight to be fair. We gave the ball away so often it was getting embarrassing. But hey, 4 out of 6 pts. I'll take it even if it's ugly sometimes.
Amac9 2,060
As soon as they brought on Insua our midfield never got a kick. Naismith was forced on the backfoot and barely got a touch in the second half, so was Davis and McCulloch and Edu were getting run ragged in the middle. Against Valencia we will have to start dominating midfield with McCulloch and Edu in the middle.

Imodium 408
Edu done okay at points in the match but he can be too laid back on the ball and just looks like a complete bomb scare at times. We need to strengthen cm in January

Carsons Dog 9,878
Edu was the worst player on the park - constantly giving the ball away and committing stupid fouls in dangerous areas. He is just not good enough for The Rangers I am afraid. Kingbo 0
I actually thought he had a good game, played some nice 1-2s with Naismith to ease the pressure, and got forward well.

Thought he was excellent.Every game he plays there seems to be the same sort of split with the fans opinions on him.Agreed I must be watching a different game from you. Awful player, imo. In saying that, it's not a night to be negative. 3 CL points

I'm a Sergio Busquets fan so...Edu held possession well, made some good tackles and some excellent passes. The quiet workhorse of the team tonight. El-Hadji Spit RFC 723
Can't see how edu gets all this stick, everytime I've seen him he puts in a decent shift and shows the potential to be a real good player for us for years to come. Personaly I think he's a better player than thomson. I will add tho; I thought whittiker was fuckin awful tonight, didn't do anything right.

I'm a Sergio Busquets fan so...Edu held possession well, made some good tackles and some excellent passes. The quiet workhorse of the team tonight.I never used to rate Sergio until I seen him in a couple of World Cup games for Spain the other month. I appreciated him a bit better then. Maybe because I wasn't so star struck watching the other Barcelona players in the team in the other matches?

Edu, for me, will come in handy away to Valencia next month in the same formation. Outwith games like that? nah. Not for me.
