ibrox.png‘Born is the King of Ibrox Park’, the Light Blue legions sang of Derek Parlane, the 70’s idol who wore the famous Rangers no. 9 jersey, scoring 111 first class goals in 300 games over a ten year period.

30 years may have passed since he last played for the club, he will never be forgotten by the fans who herladed him throughout his Rangers career. Parlane, who has recently been added to the Hall of Fame, is set to enjoy a fitting tribute dinner to celebrate his Rangers career on Friday 1st October at Glasgow’s Thistle Hotel.

Official Rangers Club Historian, David Mason, commented: “I was one of these fans who celebrated Derek’s goals through a fantastic spell in the 70’s. With two trebles, the era is often overlooked in the light of more recent successes, but it was a historic spell.
