If We leave parkhead top of the spl?

Don't think we will due to the squad sizes. They have 2 players for almost every position, we don't. We have a first team pool of about 16 players.

We will always get injuries and suspensions around Dec/Jan time. The beggars can bring in Kayal, Murphy, Stokes, Ronge, Mulgrew, Wilson etc.

Not great players, but first team players none-the-less.

We obviously have a better spirit and a core to our team they don't have but regardless of what happens at the end of the month I'd have them as favourites.

That's not me being negative. Sometimes we excel when we are faced with this type of challange.

Them being pumped out of Europe so early will work to their advantage as well.

To be honest I don't buy into that.

It bubbles down to tiredness and that's just a ready made excuse for when the Old Firm have a bad game.

There's an equal chain of thought that says playing these games gives them confidence, experience and keeps them in the zone (so to speak)

Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Who won the League when we got to the UEFA Cup Final? Or when Celtic got to the UEFA Cup final?

What about when Celtic came back from Boavista on the Thursday, played us at Ibrox on the Saturday and still beat us 2-1 (despite them complaining about the fixtures before hand)

yip their sure is I'am just asking based on the games we have had compared to them.

Aye then, their first 'test' is against Dundee United the week before us, so aye, they'll be no doubt we'll be favourites if we beat them at the City dump. It will give us a huge confidence booster as well.

It's a one-off game. Stands to reason that the team who play less competitive fixtures throughout the Season will be better placed to win the League. Especially with the size of squad we have compared to theirs. We will be more likely to pick up injuries and players will suffer from fatigue more.

On FM I just played Celtic at Parkhead and won 1-3, and then had a ridiculously scheduled Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge the very next day. I won 0-2.

Now, as we all know, Football Manager is just like real life. Europe should have no bearing on our league results :sherlock:

I agree we play 3games a week atm they play 1, so we have the momentum, tiredness will not be an issue at this stage in the season, were as being rusty could cost them. (tu)

and as I said, I don't buy it.

I can appreciate the reasons you've gave, but there's equally credible reason for the opposite side of the arguement.

Depends on your outlook, but I've always felt for years that it's a ready made excuse for poor results.

There's not really, though.

Personally I've never accepted this idea that players are tired for playing two matches a week, which it generally is in reality. Physically, they are sportsmen and should be fit - and when you think about it, if Davie Weir can do it past 40 then there's no excuse for the others. Mentally, if you can't lift yourself for the Champions League then you have no right to be a footballer and although it might be more difficult against the likes of St Midden and Inverness et al, the same thing kind of applies that if you can't lift yourself every time you pull on that blue jersey then why the fuck are you playing for Rangers. I think I would rather be playing weekend/midweek matches, where the momentum is kept going than doing nothing bar training.

Also, we have Walter Smith, who is possibly the best motivator in the game. Sure, he has his faults as a manager, who doesn't, but you can't argue with the way he gets the best out of certain players. There probably isn't a manager in the world who would have got out of Gazza what Walter did at that time in his career.

I'm also of the opinion that Celtc have to hit a patch where they don't win, partly because they simply aren't that great and partly because they have a manager who is an arsehole. As soon as something goes wrong, we'll see Lemmon crack up and go to pieces, he did it as a player and I don't see that he's matured any more as a manager. Plus, having so many players battling for positions isn't always a good thing, when guys start getting annoyed at being left out.

So overall, well we'll see...

(tu) great post.

On the bright side, Celtic haven't played anyone decent and we have played 3 out of our 5 most difficult fixtures of the season. Parkhead and Tannadice being the other two, imo.

I agree but even if we do lose it doesn't mean the leagues over

Totally agree there aswell. I'd hope even the biggest doom and gloom merchants wouldn't think that either. Considering there's 2 Old Firm's at Ibrox that we will be favourites to win.
