G.Linton 107
Rangers' Allan McGregor will undergo a scan on a thigh injury, but Scotland are confident of avoiding a goalkeeping crisis for their Euro 2012 qualifiers.Blackpool's Matt Gilks has pulled out of the squad after suffering a dead leg, leading to a first squad call-up for Kilmarnock 24-year-old Cammy Bell. Oh and Craig Gordon is back too!If there any reason Neil Alexander has not be called up?
gunslinger 270
he was in the last squad
DarcheVinny 1,003
Unfortunately for neil, he isn't playing 1st team football. And that should usually be a rule for selection IMO
G.Linton 107
so its just down to not playing? feel shan on him great keeper and surely Levien Knows this...plus i know Gordon is no1 but hes not been playing just back.

J-Maestro 9,357
Neither has Caldwell either so just a poor excuse.
G.Linton 107
Neither has Caldwell either so just a poor excuse.well exactly so why in gods name is Neil Alexander not in there.
J-Maestro 9,357
well exactly so why in gods name is Neil Alexander not in there.Cammy Bell is in for the same reason Garry Kenneth was, Levein's naivety in thinking decent at best young players outwith the old firm are going to be able to make the massive step up to international football. G.Linton 107
But like i know gordon and mcgregor will be 1st and second ( no order ) and alexander won't play but hes got to be infront of cammy bell surely? IMO!
Smile 26,535
Alexander certainly more than good enough for Scotland.
G.Linton 107
Alexander certainly more than good enough for Scotland.Totally Agree and Surely Levien Must think this too!
SirWalterSmithLegend 206
He's not playing so its fair enough imo.Players get picked for Scotland squads all the time who dont get a game or havnt played many games. Alexander is one of our very best goalkeepers and should be in every squad along with Gordon and McGregor.
G.Linton 107
well im glad i ain't the only one who thinks so!
Amac9 2,060
The less Rangers players away on International duty the better as far as I'm concerned.
laudrupforever 17
I agree that it's not a problem for me the less players we have away, but to call up Cammy Bell (who I rate quite highly) over Alexander is a joke. If it is about match time, why is Clodwell getting a cap?
bjorkland 13
Off topic a bit, but Alexander is far too good a keeper to be second choice at Rangers. Not saying he is better than McGregor, just saying he could still command a No. 1 jersey for a big team.We must be doing something right to keep a player of his quality on the bench. Boab 73
I hope Neil does get called up, the more Rangers players in the Scotland squad the better but only if they are good enough. However why the bold parts in the opening post?
Jamie1807 146
I don't think it would be fair if Craig Gordon just walked back in to start in goalsHe should only come back in if McGregor makes a mistake

Football and life in general is not fair.
Broxi 10,587
But like i know gordon and mcgregor will be 1st and second ( no order ) and alexander won't play but hes got to be infront of cammy bell surely? IMO!matt gilks ahead of Alexander IMO he's been top quality for blackpoolso far and I think he could take 2nd place or even 1stbig English clubs will be after him next season
SirWalterSmithLegend 206
He's played 1 competitive game this season. How many have Gordon and Caldwell played?
SirWalterSmithLegend 206
Craig Gordon is a better keeper than Alexander.Gary Caldwell is just shite, so he doesn't even count. But I know the point you're trying to make, McGregor (if fit) should be the first choice goalkeeper for the coming games- he's played the most first team football and kept the most clean sheets. But hes there and will no doubt play, and i agree with you, McGregor should be number 1 for now.
