CELTIC chief executive Peter Lawwell has handed back almost £40,000 in bonus cash to help the club get through the economic downturn.

This is exactly what Mr Bain & co should be doing rather than a 30% pay increase!!!

Makes me furious

martin bain wasn't given a 30% pay increase, he got a bigger bonus as rangers were succesful as a business over the previous financial year.

Even with 30k off lawell still earns more than bain and has overseen a disaterous couple of years for the filoth given the finacial advantage they enjoyed

I'm sure this Ken is a tim

His first post in two years was last night commenting about Jelavic's injury

Always quick to criticise a fellow bear!

I was simply making my point of view that I don't believe Martin Bain justifies a 30%

pay increase in these difficult financial times for our club. He would do well to take a look

across the city at our bitter rivals and decline this or possibly put it back a year or two.

Im also realistic though and realise that there's not many people who would decline such

a pay rise even under the financial strains of our club.

I wonder how many more people like you want to prattle their gums about "Bain giving himself a pay rise" before you stop and realise that it's performance related pay and bonuses for Rangers good results and and off the park. It's part of a CEO's contract.

Next year he could end up on the basic he was on before the 30% extra he got this year.

Saw this in the Herald, I have to go to work now but the 'source' who was telling their business editor why he did what he did sounded like it was Liewell himself. Check it out on the Heralds website and you will see what I mean.

Performance related, yes ill agree with that. But just because we qualified for the champions league last year and increased our income

by around 17m does that mean Mr Bain's performance was 30% better or any better for that matter?

I said results on and off the park mate. A success product on the park relates to a success performance off the park and that's where Bain is ultimately responsible, being the head Chief Executive (tu)
