djbroxybear 658
At the end of the season Walter has said hes stepping down as manager, and hes said that Ally is willing and ready to step in and take over.Is Ally ready to take over and be given a chance ?I think he does and deserves it, the squad wev'e got well 99% will be with us next season so it should be business as usual Ally knows and has worked with the players, he has learned alot from Walter and who will always be on the other end of the phone, His time has come. SUPER ALLY
caseyjones 3,009
Nobody knows whether he is ready, that will only be discovered through resuts. It's certainly not a gamble that I am happy for us to take.

NorthernLights 2,526
I trust that Walter wouldn't push him forwards for it if he didn't think he was ready. Ally's passion is there for all to see and that's a damn good start.
Chef 436
everyone is a risk, so i think he deserves his chance, afterall he has been learning from the master, if he has a good rappor with the players and club that is a good start and leaves me feeling he can do a good job, never know he may turn out to be our mourinho
div1601 3
I for one dont want walter to leave but if he is to go then if its ally that he trusts to take over then thats good enough for me. Nobody knows what will happen with coisty incharge but what we do know is that he cares passionately about our club and he knows what its all about so thats a good start for me. Muff 245
Would rather someone else (Rangnick, Preud'homme, Magath) but it looks like it will be McCoist, so I wish him all the best in what will hopefully be a successful period under him. Muff 245
who the middle guy, not a chef thenMichel Preud'homme - one of the best keepers!Transformed Standard Liege, took them to their first title in 25 years, led KAA Gent to 2nd place in the Jupiler and is now at FC Twente. Fantastic manager, with a wealth of knowledge and eye for a player, youth especially.
Misteral 2,909
As has been pointed out everyone is a risk but in this case much better the devil you know and all that. as Walter has given him the nod then that's good enough for me and I'm quite optimistic he will be the right choice at the time. Bluepeter9 5,167
My own opinion is he has earned the chance - but if Walter stayed another couple of years that would also not bother me and in fact would be my preference.

GeneralCartmanLee 313
I'm very unconvinced by Ally. He seems too much to be 'one of the lads' and pals with everyone if you know what I mean. I'd love him to be a success, but I've got grave concerns about it. I think he's a good number two, but I just don't ever see him having that ruthless streak. The players he has worked with describe him as a totally different man when coaching. 1st_Jan_1994 4,868
I believe he can be a bastard to the players when need be. It's more the tactical side that worries me, not his character.
simplythebest 11,437
No, i'd much rather see us go for a top quality European manager. Just because Le Guen didn't work out and Walter Smith sorted out the mess doesn't mean we should only be considering 'Rangers minded' people to manage us and disregarding foreigners. But we're not in much of a position to attract people these days with with the financial situation and McCoist has already pretty much been confirmed. There's nobody i'd love more to see succeed as Rangers manager, it'll be something he's dreamed of ever since leaving us in 1998. Certainly hope it works out. TexasGers 96
There are potential downsides to McCoist taking over, but I think continuity and familiarity is as important as anything. McCoist will also have his own ideas on how to run things, and I think he'll want to set himself apart from Walter in some respects
Sweeney 241
Sceptical about McCoist. Don't think any managers first job should be with a team the size of Rangers, despite who has mentored you. Albeit the man is a legend with this club and fans love him, i'm afraid of him having a disastrous reign thus tarnishing his legendary status he achieved here as a player.
