Togs 179
Rangers chief executive Martin Bain is hopeful that Kenny Miller will sign a new contract at the club. The 30-year-old Scotland international is out of contract at the end of the season and the Gers are trying persuade him to extend his stay at Ibrox.Miller has so far rejected two contract offers from the club, but Bain remains hopeful."Kenny Miller is a player who we want to stay at the football club first and foremost," said Bain.Discussion"His representatives had some discussions with me some weeks ago, I made them an offer and they didn't like the offer I made."I made them a second offer and they didn't like that one either. I'm going through a process of discussion with them."Kenny is a good boy, a sensible lad, and his representatives are also good to deal with as well."I'm hopeful that we can come to some sort of agreement with Kenny. I know Walter [smith] is keen that I do something because the player is on fire at the moment."Miller is in his second stint with Rangers and has played over 100 games for the club, scoring more than 50 goals.Source
Grandfather_Huck 5
I agree with Bain that we should be offering incentives-based contracts for players over 30 but Miller is a player it will cost us about £3-4 million to replace and we shouldn't be messing him around with pitiful offers
Jonnyboyrfc 296
Good news that we are still working at this Here's hoping it gets done and dusted as soon as possible
1st_Jan_1994 4,868
More than 50 goals in 100 games. That's good going for a striker who used to never score.

simplythebest 11,437
Regardless of how important a player he is we shouldn't be offering Miller anything that we can't afford.
Grandfather_Huck 5
I think it's farcical that they're squabbling over the matter of a couple of grand per week.Asking him to take a paycut on the back of a season where he scored 21 goals was foolish in the extreme. As a point of principle alone, it's obvious why he rejected in. He's supposedly on £18,000 a week. I'd offer him £10,000 a week basic and the extra £8000 if he plays. Simples. 1st_Jan_1994 4,868
Regardless of how important a player he is we shouldn't be offering Miller anything that we can't afford.Exactly. Even a couple of grand over our wage cap is still a couple of grand more than we can afford. Don't break the structure for anyone and land us in the shit again, when we've been making good inroads.I'd compensate for it by offering him 3 years instead of two. A compromise. simon 1,717
A player that we need to get tied down. He has earned a pay rise and should get. We must be able to afford an extra couple of grand for him.
Madina 3,397
The sooner w etie him to a new deal the better. If we were to loose him he would be really hard to replace. he has argubely been our most important player over the last 10 months or so

Poetry_In_Blue 1,043
I like it that people seem to know exactly what his current contract is and what we are offering him I didn't realise that this was public knowledge.Irrespective I feel that a deal will be struck by the end of the year and irrespective of what certain areas of the press have been publishing all negotiations have been amicable. As for the future, when Kenny eventually does leave us, I have a feeling that Fleck will be developed to fill this particular role for the long term future. simplythebest 11,437
Miller's form does in theory deserve a pay rise but players have to appreciate our financial situation and it's not as if anyone on our books hasn't done well for themselves, even if they haven't received Man City type wages it's still a lot of money. Walter took a chance on Miller so he owes him something, it didn't seem he was inundated with offers to get out of a relegated Derby side.
Togs 179
I just think refusing to give Miller a small pay rise yet we can sign Ricky Foster (albeit with Velicka going the other way) is a bad bit of business.
simplythebest 11,437
Foster was a bad signing for me but it was done to add another option for the full back areas, you could see from the bench yesterday with us having a few injuries how small our squad is. 1st_Jan_1994 4,868
Foster may still come in useful yet. We need cover in the left hand side of defense. I don't really rate him, but he's another player for a key area if needed.
ZX750 31
Never thought I would say this but I have been more impressed with Kenny Miller than any other of Smiths signings. I include Cuellar and Bougherra in that bracket aswell. Some crucial goals in his time with us.Fantastic buy, but wouldnt go over the top on wages for him. ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
If we make it to the last 16 of the champions league,i think we will be able to give miller a rise.?

pcbear 10,913
He has to be worth Boyds money, i'm sure what he was offered and refused will pretty much keep Kenny Miller on board, the feelgood factor must enter the equation somewhere down the line, full houses, cup finals, European football and titles will be a thing of the past if he leaves.Boyd and Thompson will never win another thing in their career, would that be the route for him to go down? an extra 5-7k a week and be miserable as sin. flecky1 4
Obviously money is the issue, im not sure it should even be an issue for him, hes loaded and wont find a better club in the world, youve got to wonder what on earth Bain offered him!
