harry handsome 629
Just catching up with the fall out over the OF game at the weekend and cant believe what is going on.I have watched the game a couple of times to try and understand their point of view.Penalty call; KB was impeded however minimal or soft the contact was, so now he is a diver etc but there was contact and the ref called it as he seen it, Hooper on the other hand dived to try and win a penalty when no contact was made, where is Lennons or Celtics condemnation of their own player for trying to gain unfair advantage.Stoakes; I dont often get wound up about bad tackles i gave them out in plentiful doses as a player but i was disgusted by that tackle. Straight red and Rangers should question the referee on the rules of the game, tackle from behind feet high and that late it may just be in time for the next OF game.Samaras; How many challenges did he make when the ball was not there to be played, pushed throught the back of players constantly, was way late and high with the tackle on Boogie, stuck the knee albeit softly on McGregor had another couple of late tackles and then that disgusting tackle on Naismith which should have been a straight red.And the count goes on with various players putting it in.What caused all this then, i tell you what did, Lennon and Thompson with limited experience had one card to play and that was the physical card. But this all pales into insignificance when you see what has went on off the park as far as the officials go.Lennon should be asked to explain what his remarks to the media were meant to be about, he is well aware of the type of people that follow both teams and the potential for trouble.Kenny Clark what a twat this guy is, well known Celtic fan comes out and says it was the wrong call and critices the ref then in the next breath says that the coverage of referees is unfair and people need to take a look at themselves, really Kenny.Makes me glad that our club behave in a dignified way. bombaybadboy08 15,660
The 'defender' takes the risk by making contact in the box. What was it they said when McGeady dived at Hibs? Ah that's right...contact was made and Kirk Broadfoot tried to avoid injury

delamonty 992
Lennon and co are 100% complicit in these death threats and should be taken to task imho. How stupid is Lennon? And he's still pursuing Collum!
Bluepeter9 5,167
This is where the slow motion replay fails. If somebody is going to clatter you, you try to get out the way of it. It's a natural reaction, like flinching. Footballers would have to be quite mad, and have the power to overrule their instincts in order to want to get clattered and potentially hurt. If you flinch/anticipate when running full pelt, you'll fall, even with no contact at all.Broadfoot has probably played for it, but.... Majstanovic (sp) has put his arms up, and left a leg in, in the box. The angle from the back makes it look worse than what it looks from the front. There is no camera angle which shows Collums view.Aye thats one thing about 'diving' if someone comes at you hard and you know they are going to hit you - you 'jump' (getting clattered in the air is less likely to cause injury than having a foot planted on the ground) - its why some 'slow mo' makes a fould look 'less worthy' than at full speed. However mistake or not its the refs call to make if he makes the call (and doe NOT change his mind ). Its a penalty - it does not matter one jot what happens later or what they view on tv - the ref calls it as he sees it - and EVERY ref I know makes mistakes in a game - for and against us. Its part of football.

Thermopylae 15,286
Point is it isn't just about contact ... if our player has to change his run to avoid being clattered by a reckless defender then it's still a penalty
