GOAT 30,449
Now I don't know if this is true, I'm just passing it on, but I was told a few members of the Greengairs Thistle FB were outside Ibrox trying to get donations for poppies and the Police and stewards tried to get them to move away from Ibrox. When they told them they would go to the papers about it, they backed down and let them take donations. I've no reason to doubt this considering the person who told me about this is good mates with a few members of the band.Does anyone on here play in Greengairs and can confirm this for us? Because if it's true it's an absolute disgrace.
thebooler 4,509
On the face of it Goat, it does sound a touch insensitive. But maybe it had something to do with having to have licences, etc. to make collections in the street?I don't know anything about it other than what you've posted so I'm only speculating as to why the Police would question them. Then the screws showed up followed by some suits. I really hope this isn't true.
BRITNEY IS NOT FEELING IT 8,292
If it did indeed happen , it just shows that this country is moving backwards , we as a nation should be showing more patriotism towards our country and the soldiers that have fought and died and those that are fighting for our freedom

Dennis 1,011
If it did indeed happen , it just shows that this country is moving backwards , we as a nation should be showing more patriotism towards our country and the soldiers that have fought and died and those that are fighting for our freedomThe problem with, fighting wars for our freedom is, that it give cunts far to much freedom of speech. It won't be long before, wearing a poppy will be offensive and sectarian.

BRITNEY IS NOT FEELING IT 8,292
We should have a GREAT Britain day in this country once a year , whereas no one will get troubled for flying a flag etc and celebrate being BRITISH ( look at the way USA celebrate as an example ) unfortunately we should be teaching not being taught how to celebrate
minstral 5,375
I think that you will find that they were checking them out as there are con men selling poppies badges and scarfs. And the money they collect is going into their pockets instead of where it should be going.

Jimfanciesthedude 24,058
it also might have to do with where they were doing it in terms of safety etcif its a large group doing the collection, and then that causes an even larger group to congregate, then they can be dispersed for safety reasonsjust one of they things, im sure it wasnt meant badlyif it was however someone should be hung by their baws
