D'Artagnan 13,319
Remember that Celtic Spokesman who said Celtic dont do charity collections at Parkhead....Well he spoke with forked tongue. On 13th December 2003 a charity badge was sold (£1 donation) outside Celtic Park on behalf of The Celtic Charity Fund. The principal beneficiaries were motor neurone disease charities, as former Celtic player Jimmy Johnstone had been diagnosed with this disease.A second charity badge was available outside Celtic Park on 25th September 2004. The badge was a fund raiser for The Brother Walfrid Memorial Appeal. On 29th April 2007 a third Celtic Charity Fund badge day was held. A 40th anniversary Lisbon Lions pin was available for a £1 donation (minimum) before the home match v Hearts. On 11th May 2008 a fourth Celtic Charity Fund badge day at the Celtic v Hibernian SPL match was held, with a new Celtic Cross badge sold.On 24th May 2009 Celtic held their fifth Charity Fund badge day at a Celtic v Hearts match. On 25th September 2010 Celtic held a Charity Fund badge day for CHAS. A heart shaped badge was available for a donation. Sellers were at turnstiles before the match v Hibernian.

Then perhaps at long last your eyes would be opened to kind of vermin we are dealing with. "You can stick yer F..ing Poppies up yer @rse" was the chant the Saints fans were incensed by....that and other anti-British ditties. This from a club which is non political, has no sectarian problems and which is committed to social integration. D'Artagnan 13,319
Nice deflection - you still haven't pointed out the lie.I'll be waiting.I have no need to deflect.Has it never occurred to you that the Poppy Charity probably intended to hold their collection at the turnstile outside the ground ?Thats where they normally do them.As the spokesperson for that charity said - " We've never been turned away by any of the big clubs and we find it shocking that Celtic would implement this ban " . I put far more credence in the comment from the Poppy Charity spokesman who states that Celtic are the only club who have ever banned their sellers. That for me is the crux of the statement.I dont believe its about licensing laws/club policy whatever you want to dress it up as. They have pandered to the hatred of all things British irrrespective of whether it was inside or outside the ground. As I said in the original thread that hatred needs to be recognised - it gives birth to the cancer of sectarianism/racisim in our society. Licensing laws and club policy ?Why did Celtic not hold a minute silence last year for Rememberance Day ? Licensing laws and club policy ?Why did Celtic fans disrupt the one minute silence to HRH the Queen Mother ? Licensing laws and club policy ?Why did some Celtic fans shout "Argentina" when Simon Weston was a guest of Rangers at an OF game ? Licensing laws and club policy ? MisterC 11,804
I know TWB likes to play devils advocate but defending them is going a bit too far in my book.
