St. Mirren midfielder Craig Slater gave Scotland the lead on 50 minutes after he slotted home from a Joseph Chalmers cross. Scotland doubled their lead eight minutes later through Celtic's John Herron who cooly slotted past the USA goalkeeper from close range. USA pulled one back with ten minutes left on the clock but Ross Mathie's side held on for the win. The performance was just what coach Mathie was looking for ahead of the Elite Round of the 2011 UEFA European Under-17s Championship which is due to take place in March 2011. He said: "It was a worthy exercise as we managed to include some players who haven't been involved in the squad before."USA have a good team and made it tough for us, especially in the first half. But we did really well in the second half and managed to take control which was particularly pleasing." The draw for the Elite Round of the U-17 Championships takes place on 30th November and is due to be played in March 2011. Full match report to follow...Though it's a friendly, well done to the Scotland U17 squad for its 2-1 win over USA. Yet,
