Linked with three players...

Right sided defender/midfielder, Oscar Garcia plays in his homeland for Olimpia and has played 43 times for the Homduran national team.

The same article also says that we are keeping an eye on Anderlecht centre half Victor Bernardez as a potential replacement for Bougherra. He's another Honduran who plays for Anderlecht in Belgium.

The third player is Albacete goalkeeper and Cosa Rican international Keylor Navas.

Personally I think this is nonesense. The interest in the two Hondurans was claimed by an agent and Nava only joined Albacete this year.

Thoughts?

It's a slow news day.

Smith is already on record as saying we'll not be buying anyone in January because we're skint.........unless of course Smith knows that we'll be selling one or more of our present assets at that time and will have funds available.

Now that would be interesting.

We are after a Wigan reject? Aye, fucking right!

I think we have had enough of Wigan rejects lately....we really need another RIGHT back/ midfielder at Ibrox. :anguish::wanker:

Oz tbh if theres any truth in this maybe walters identifying that Whitty is not a right back or Broadfoot, we have not replaced Hutton imo.

"Rangers fans have already vowed on websites to target Hernandez if he goes through his normal routine and that will worry Ferguson who is anxious for United’s visit to pass peacefully. "

Well it's taken him long enough to figure it out dj! Broadfoot is steady enough but is certainly no Hutton that's for sure and maybe I'm being a bit harsh here because I can't remember seeing this Garcia play, but when a player is being classed as a "Wigan reject", I get very suspicious about these kind of stories.

I actually think that if a bit of work was put in to coaching Foster, he would turn into a better attacking all round full-back than Whittaker and Broadfoot combined.

Whittaker is dangerous going forward but is a disaster defending, while Broadfoot defends better than Whittaker but going forward is....Well! Broadfoot I guess. <cr>

Cant dissagree with you there mate (tu) lets see if foster gets on from the start against Killie to see what he can do, id like to see him getting a run in the team.

If the Keeper has just joined that spainish club i doubt he owuld be interesting us. Im sure there are targets for CH incase Boogie goes. And TBH i wouldnt mind us getting a decent RB but i think either Broadfoot ot Whittaker would have to go first to free up wages etc.

Well Walter and Coisty see him everyday at training and should know if he is capable of doing the job against Killie or not. I can't see any sense whatsoever of bringing a guy on loan and not playing him when needed.

As I said, Foster needs to be coached a bit more to iron out a few flaws in his game, but his performance in the Champions league showed me that he could potentially have a long term future at Ibrox if persevered with.

Victor Bernardez is a good player and I'm sure either us or the bheggars were linked with him in the summer - I mentioned him during the summer as a potential signing. I'm sure he was linked with us when Durrant was watching Honduras and Georgie Welcome.

Think he's struggled to get in the Anderlecht side but he's still a solid centre half. Pacey, strong, decent on the ball... If you can get someone who is decent in the air, good on the ball and has some discipline, then he is always going to succeed in the SPL. Bernardez might be a decent, cheap signing, if there is anything in this!?

I'd prefer Tomas Hubocan myself, a cracking player who we can sign in January for nothing as his contract ends on the 31st December.

As for Oscar Boniek Garcia - a player who has played plenty times for the national team but one I can't really remember. Keylor Navas is a highly rated young keeper, but we've heard that all before.

No idea about how good these guys are, but right back and centre back are positions where we're a bit short. Plus Brian Ruiz, Maynor Figueroa, Wilson Palacios.....how often do you see players from Central America come over to Europe for pennies, then be worth millions?

We know that we've got contacts there, as Welcome proved, and I think that it's a very wise move for the club to make.

Agreed.

You have Palacios, Thomas, Ruiz, Bolanos, Izaguire & Figueroa all playing over here and doing well and there are even a fair few Mexicans starting to show up in Europe too.

It's a market that is developing, but there is still good value for money.
