Spartak Moscow ace Aiden McGeady ready to taste Russia's version of the Old Firm

Nov 15 2010

FORMER Celtic star Aiden McGeady can't wait to savour his first taste of Moscow's biggest derby.

The winger has missed the electric atmosphere of Old Firm clashes since making a £9.5million move to Spartak in the summer.

But he reckons Saturday's clash with CSKA will prove to be just as memorable.

Moscow boasts four big clubs but the showdown between Spartak and CSKA is the ultimate derby.

Hope And McGeady said: "It will be a special match - one full of passions.

"This is like an Old Firm game and I hope we win."

McGeady has dazzled since his move to Spartak, scoring twice and providing five assists to help his team climb to fourth place.

Spartak are on a 10-game unbeaten league run but have left it too late to catch Zenit St Petersburg who were crowned champs yesterday.

However, the former Hoops hero sees plenty of hope for next season.

He said: "We are heading in the right direction. But the Russian league is stronger than I expected."

He's been in the daily record more since leaving Celtic than what he was in when he was there.

Because he's still of interest to Scottish football fans, as, evidently, he also is to you?
