We are currently looking for a midfielder who used to run the show each Saturday with his unmatched passing ability and eye for through balls ,he has been spotted in and around Ibrox occasionally this season but he is meant to be there every other weekend and at whatever ground the Gers are winning in , if he is found can you please return him to Ibrox as he is needed for a big game on Wednesday .

Many Thanks

That's a bad case of whataboutery you've got, OC! :D

Last season apart, he has always been an inconsistent sort, if he wasn't, we would never have been able to afford him.

Nah.

Since the Manchester season he has been a consistent performer for us.

Only this season has he been inconsistent.

The reason we could afford him was because he was out of favor with his manager after a very successful spell at Aston Villa.

Been far too inconsistant this season but if you take him out the team, we will struggle.

Some say he is more suited to the right - I never saw him as a right midfielder when he played out there. He drifted in and out of the position. More of a free sort of role - I disagree, especially when we play with Edu and McCulloch in the middle of the park. The midfield is a real concern for me, we lack a holding midfielder.

Like the majority of players, at times it takes him too long to get into games, and that is simply not acceptable. Davis has always been a player who drifts in and out of games. When he is not in it, we miss him and it's happened on a number of occassions this season. When he's on his game, he's the one who makes us tick. Overall, I'd give him 6.5/7 out of 10 this season and I think he's been pretty good in the European games.

Bar the month of December last year, we weren't the best, our football this season has been better and we are more attacking and I think some of that is down to Davis in the middle along with Naismith and Miller on form, a bit of width and no Boyd.

We had a proper holding midfielder in Pedro Mendes, yet we went out and spunked £2.5m on Maurice Edu, and sold Mendes for buttons.

Good post.

That is so true and its pathetic, Pedro Mendes was a holding midfielder but yet we used him as an attacking midfielder.

If we had Pedro Mendes and used him properly in Europe we would have been so much more effective.

I would agree bar Valencia away and maybe Man utd at home ( in the attacking sense) and thats why i feel he needs to step up tonight , when he plays well in Europe the others tend to stand alongside if you will and this is what we need for the game on Wednesday , the defence still worries me and not sure what the plan is for the game but we MUST have an attacking threat as there is no way we can keep the door shut this time Imo

Davis - Mendes - Thomson

Midfield trio was just coming onto a game, they complimented each other so well, and IMO, would have been unstoppable - if Thomson hadn't picked up that horrible injury, and the manager let it form!

It's easy to look back, but fcuk me, what a team we could have had!

McGregor

Hutton Bougherra Cuellar Papac

Davis Mendes Thomson

Weiss Jelavic Naismith

Unfair to leave Miller out but...

Back to Steven Davis and I'm certainly not going to make excuses up, but I think at times he is overrated, and that is not a dig at him because he is a class act. I also think people expect him to do too much, and when his performance levels drop 5%-10%, people get on at him.

As I said above, take him out the team and we would struggle. Get a holding midfielder in and that is a big part of the team sorted!
